and pitfalls of things in general, then we would mimic our serious by singing some appropriate song, ending in an uproar.
I had always enjoyed physical activity so we would play leapfrog, Clayt made me gasp in admiration as he climbed a pole over hand. I could shinny a rope, but I neverdeveloped enough strength in my arms to do that.Suppleness, light quickness mine, but Clayt's athletics had my spoken admiration. "He laughed said, "Don't you know fellows have a better time with a girl along?"
During the fall of 1925, I made it a habit to bake two pies and two cakes at one time. One for the boys where Clayt lived, one for us. I took these lads in alternating congenial groups for dinner/with us our house about once a week. I was "Sam's girl" or "Ma" (teasing) then "Hattie." Sam brought the distributors home for dinner, the ones he felt were winners. I have been reminded of the time that a tall thin lad, on his "uppers" came in from the Robertson Brothers, out St. Louis distributors, to fly the WACO NINE to them. The regular fellow Errohl Bahl (soloed by "Buck" Weaver War One) arranged it. No one noticed this lad as Willis Brown from Tulsa was in for his Waco Nine. I had made a crn soufflé as part of dinner and as usual Willis was right on time for dinner. (This would endear him to any Hostess much less with soufflé on hand.) After Sam took him back to the factory, I was pulled right out of the dishpan when Sam popped in, gave me the loving of my life, and said, "Meals and hospitality like that sells WACOS." Thereafter I fairly busted myself,/even more inspired to cook many different delicious foods remembering Sam's heart xxx meant/keeping his weight under 200lbs. Sam had the product at the average man's price, I, the food and hospitality "that made them like to come for the product." Sam would lovingly hug me and say" Just try to stop the moneycoming. You will have a home, piano lessons long wanted, and maybe I will study voice." We will have another WACO factory in California where Buddie will grow up strong.
