    It is now 1929. The All American Aircraft Show is on: There are ships of all varieties, sizes and shapes. Transatlantic flights are now so usual and so successful that the papers give only a small space to the achievement -- after it is accomplished! --- then it is mentioned in a matter of fact way, as if Mrs. So and So has given a reception which had "gone over" in the most approved manner (as was to be expected). Women are rivaling each other in altitude tests, [[underlined]]new[/underlined]] kinds of endurance tests, the endurance of women in this day and age being measured by the length of time spent in the clouds, rather than on enduring patience with the manifold duties that a growing family and a husband of more or less disposition demand -- Usually, due to the nerve strain of today's competition - it is [[underlined]]less[[underlined]] - The "supposed to be" humorous remark "I'll fly when I can keep one foot on the ground", does not assault the ears of pilot as often as it one did. (There, dear public, is one reason for less murder, who says aviation does not benefit humanity?) Cities that could not, by any stretch of the imagination, see why they should have an airport, much less encourage a (once) embryonic aviation industry, are now trying to make recompense, morally and financially for time lost thru lack of vision. Just look at the exhibit itself and who can say it is not the most wonderful age to be privileged to live in? Then look at the accessories exhibited,
