Much annoyance has been suffered during the past year, and the work for several weeks interrupted, by the repairs to the walls of the building and the clatter of the carpenters on the floor of the main hall below the gallery. These things in the ordinary course of events will come to an end, sooner or later, and the relief which a cessation of these extraordinary noises will afford can hardly be appreciated by any one who has not attempted to work in the midst of them day after day.
