General operations

The general operations of the Department [[strikethrough]] during the past year [[/strikethrough]] as in previous years have comprised: (1) the determination, labelling, proper assorting and registration of specimens, old and new; and (2) [[strikethrough]] is [[/strikethrough]] the preparation of special reports on Government collections made by other branches of the Executive Departments, such as the U. S. Fish Commission, the U. S. Navy, the Revenue Marine Services, the [[strikethrough]] Agriculture [[/strikethrough]] Department of Agriculture, and also by special expeditions.

The number of registrations [[strikethrough]] as will be seen by referring to the appended table, amounts to [[/strikethrough]] shown in the table is about the same [[strikethrough]] in point of numbers [[/strikethrough]] as in previous years, [[strikethrough]] for some time past [[/strikethrough]],
