General:
The Secretary of War directs that all advertisements requiring publication, in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia, be sent with an order of publication to the three Official newspapers in Washington, in addition to the other authorized newspapers selected by the Officer issuing the advertisement — the number of insertions to be the same as ordered in the other newspapers for the same advertisement under the existing regulations of the Department, which forbid more than six consecutive insertions of any advertisement, without special authority from the Secretary of War.

You will please give notice accordingly to Officers acting under orders from your Bureau.
