Vann Asked To Debate Politics
HOWARD INVITES VANN TO DEBATE ON POLITICS

Former Assistant Atty.-Gen. Challenges Incumbent on Pennsylvania Election
By Capital News Service

Perry W. Howard Republican National Committeeman from Mississippi has challenged Robert L. Vann, one of the Democratic "Big Four" in the last national campaign and now a Democratic office holder in the Department of Justice, to a joint political debate in the State of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Howard makes the following proposal to Mr. Vann:
"In as much as I am advised you are championing the candidacy of Democratic National Committeeman Guffey for the seat of United States Senator Reed and in as much as I am of the opinion that Senator Reed is filling the position with credit to the State of Pennsylvania and in the interest of all the people irrespective of race or creed and in as much as I shall take the stump for him in that great State I here and now challenge you to a joint debate of the issues between these gentlemen at any point or points within the State of Pennsylvania on such dates as will be convenient to each or both of us.
"We can agree upon managers and presiding officers for meetings etc.
"I am making this challenge public through the press and shall do likewise with your reply.
"I take the position that Senator Reed is the better prepared of the two men for the position and his continuance in that office means much more to our group than the election of Mr. Guffey, who in my judgment, is without the necessary experience and training for the position and as to this I am ready to go before the people."

WALKER HEIRESS ASKS FOR MORE FROM HUBBY

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. Mrs. Mae Walker Perry, adopted daughter of the late A'Lelia Walker, and heir to the Walker fortune, has amended her complaint for divorce from her husband, Marion R. Perry, a local attorney, to include a request for $3,000 alimony, an allowance of $10 a week for the support of their child, and a payment of $400 for attorneys' fees, in addition to costs of court.
In the original petition for the divorce filed last June, no alimony or allowance for child support was asked for, and attorneys' fees requested were $75.
Recenly Mr. Perry was found guilty of an attack upon his wife and her attorney, R. L. Bailey, and Mrs. Perry says in her petition that she fears for her life and charges that her husband has been guilty of annoying her in many ways at her home. Perry was arrested last week for attacking his wife with a knife in front of their home. It is claimed that Perry is incensed because of the action of his wife in seeking to divorce him.
