notice must be upsetting to her family, to say the least. I'm thankful I am not her mother! Poor Dex -- I fear he will always be in debt. They should wait a year until he gets on his feet financially and otherwise and she a bit more education. She is still pretty young to settle down for life, - only I fear it won't be! Is she very brilliant as a student?

You must have made an impression on Judy's young man. But leave him alone and others will turn up. The minds of these young men must be very fickle indeed. You can't seem to trust anyone of them around the corner with another girl,- despicable lot!

Helen is still incapacitated, but hopes to be able to get out in another week or so.

We are going to have a little chicken for dinner. I cooked it in the fireless over night and have just been browning it in the oven. Meats are higher than ever. We haven't had any since our company 10 days ago which has lingered along. I am making ice cream too, so it is really a feast day. Dad and the cat are spatting, and Dad has gotten him all stirred up so he is eying even my ankles viciously. Dad has 3 tables strewn with papers and even the couch and a chair. He is having a wonderful Sunday on the List.

You will have to run out to see Grandma this coming weekend as it will be the last for sometime. I am thinking of cutting out 2 night dresses (for Dad) to send her to sew up, to give her some occupation. That is if I can find the cloth.

Plan what you want to wear on your trip and don't arrive without anything but books this time.

Love,
Mother
