Dear folks,

I am putting in profitably the few minutes before supper--they are too few to do anything else, so here goes.

Am on top of the world again, these things go alternating from top to bottom as you would expect in one of my age. Miss Coffin has promised to explain Aristotle to me tonight--our section meeting having effectively proved my utter ignorance and inability to sift out the right thing. Luckily she has just finished successfully a phil paper and feels in a generous happy mood. Also am finding out how dumb I am in even the Iliad; am utterly incapable of carrying on class discussion or even writing on justice in the Iliad, or whether you would blame Achilles, and similar philosophical questions. Thankful that many people feel the same way, but unfortunately there must be those brains in class. . . And, also, after almost two weeks of doubt as to whether Dick Seed would ever put in a call again, I met him today in the Coop. Funny, I was thinking as I entered the store: now I'm sure not to find him here; I have been all around the college and not had a glimpse, and in all probability I will never see him again; but then my inner devil replied--just for that you will: and there he was. He has three hour exams next week, that explains things. We will go out the Sat after. Don't know whether I will invite him to the Idler formal--that same night--or not. Will have to plumb him; maybe he doesn't care for dances. At any rate. . . We had fun running around the SQuare on our errands. Sent a cable to Kelly, and left a check I had to cash there. We puzzled how in the world two sensible persons could have lost it--not knowing at the time where it was--and he went back for it with me--much to my shame to find it; wish I wasn't so dumb, he is really a brain. But he enjoys that, much appreciated the telegraph girl's comment, "Say, are you her keeper?" Well, must dash to meal, supper that is. Cold improving much. Won't go out this week-end, but study for all I am worth.

Love,

Doris

PSNot even to Jolly-up to which I have invited two persons.
