In the midst of all this paternal admonition, I'll add a bit of maternal! Our old cat has been sitting on the top piazza step calmly surveying the neighborhood. He began yowling and spitting suddenly and I caught a glimpse of a young Tom prowling about, our cat's yowls got more violent and I peeked out to see the gray cat coming up the steps with flattened ears. Our defender laid back his and began clawing at the air wildly, at the same time letting out a most fearful yowl. Whereupon I rushed out and shooed the Y.T. off and now our old man sits there triumphant. ¶ Dad is going off to work at the library and I have the weekly clean up. Wish you were here! I am going to meet Helen + harem this p.m. and take them to the Radcliffe performance at Dumbarton Oaks, and plan a beach trip for tomorrow. Helen said they hadn't been since last July. She says Geoff is terribly gloomy over Marion's coming marriage. He doesn't like any part of it, poor man.

¶ Dolores called up to say she had a letter from you. She is still going strong on her music, has 3 pianos in her neighborhood to practice on and does an hour or more a day. Her lessons, so far, she says aren't much. She said she put in 25 hrs a week in the admissions' office too. ¶ Fares going up to 15¢ here.
