Dear Doris.

Helen called me up yesterday almost as soon as she had reached home. She had the news of Marion's engagement to a Don McK [[strikethrough]] l [[/strikethrough]] eown of Ill. State Univ. who had just graduated. He is 29 yrs old, going to be an architect and was interrupted in his college by army service all over Europe. She and Geoff had been to see his folks in Illinois. Both are considerably upset because he is Catholic. Helen wanted us to come over and size him up. So we spent the evening there... Geoff looked very tired and so did Helen. It is the first of the demands to marry a Catholic and they feel broken up indeed. But she hasn't married him yet, of course. He and Marion, whom they brought back with them, looked very chummy and happy, in spite of the consternation on at least one side of the family. He is a huge chap, very well built, but with a little bit of a nose. He looks quite likeable and has [[strikethrough]] smil [[/strikethrough]] smiley eyes that make one like him. But I bet he is as stubborn as a mule. Marion has known him only 6 weeks too... and Helen groaned on that. Marion is back here now, has given up thoughts of her master's degree, and going to try to find a job here for a while. Geoff's job may not last till Xmas and they don't know where they will go. Helen said that everything was in a mess. I think between tiredness from their trip and all they could have wept over the state of their affairs. We felt sorry.

Do you mean that Louise may come back
