Dear folks,

Richards--Humanities man--is certainly all that Jean made him out to be--a genius. In addition he acts out his points so that we are fully in understanding. He has been dealing with Achilles, whom he throws up on screen as most hated of men because of fact that his huge self-esteem is grounded in fact; Achilles is excelling in all his passions, a thing of perfection, what will such a thing do if it is crossed? He doesn't give all answers, in fact, like Socrates, most often gives provoking glimmers only.

I am having to [[strikethrough]] nmm f in [[/strikethrough]] give up typing because of the racket; it kept Jolly awake last night and woke people this morning. If Louise doesn't come by Sat. we will break open her box & get her machine. We figure that from Koen's letter date she should arrive very soon if she does.

Went to PBH tea Wed for half hour and met a Fresh from Buffalo: Bill something. Very tall & good looking. He's out for dramatics. Don't know if shall see him again. But got 2 calls: one from that unspeakable Dick Speaker, my blind legislator; I put him off a week because of pro; and am going to B.U. vs. Harvard football game Sat. with David Heer, you remember, who was in 4th grade with me.

Wish Dolores would write.

Washed yesterday; sheets in Cabot.

We had 10:00 tea in Stalper's last night. No one smokes around here; Jolly has given up from [[strikethrough]] lonel [[/strikethrough]] loneliness. She aims to be as name suggests, tho' is hurt sometimes: lives alone, and finds us all grinding.

Well must make bed. Jean goes about neck wrapped and low husky voice. Rest all will. Chaucer wonderful, but imagine having to read 20 pages in Old English a night!

Love,
D.
