Dear folks,

Dad! How wonderful! You have begun- typing it over-now! Now will your end of the "we" slack up?

Pro-communist meetings in Cambridge! In the Star too! It makes me scream with amaze to see such a living example of percussion [or persuasion?]. That was actually a "Peace Rally" with [Wallacite?] & several sane but non-organizational backed people whose chief fault was drawing any suggestion of partisan politics or particular issues (as [[?]]) into talks; and the so-called "club boys" made a disgraceful embargo of the whole proceedings; yelling, parading, etc. Shameful affair to occur at Harvard. I wish you would be more explicit in what was said about it as it would be very interesting to people here. Hum?

Bible orals this afternoon turn me hence shamefaced for having read NT once, OT twice, & not thought much of any: a very high plane theaolgical [[theological]] discussion; tho' the range of commentaries presented (we had secondary source books) was often revealing. So hard for me to [[?]] in group, but I managed rather skillfully: there was one chap who talked very brilliantly & lenghthily, comparing Hellerisus [[?]], etc. with the little intellectual "obviously"'s prefacing his replies to other people's opinions ("obviously, but I..." you know). Well, I stuck my hand up & was recognized and he began to talk several times: giving investigators a good impression with very little effort on my part ... & once they stopped him to make way: and I luckily [[underscore]] did [[/underscore]] have something swell to say.

No, after promising, I didn't go: but shall, I always say. (to Weatherleys) [[?]]

I never can tell whether your sentences regarding my men are satirical & detached, merely long-range, or merely satirical. At any rate you know very well dear Duffy is more than a Homeric hero. He called up last night as I was preparing to brush up for the orals, and I snapped up the movie invitation. "Ninochka" & "A Woman's Vengeance" - both very good on own ways. One canrely [[can rely]] on Communism, other murder-guilt story: very intense, Charles Boyer etc. Well, about Duffy I feel as never about any body afore: he's superior. I shall use every ounce of energy & sympatter [[?]] & wit to tail him. Being strictly objective, he [[strikethrough]] is [[/strikethrough]] has remarkablly [[remarkably]] allied interests & knowledges to mine .. save for Schweitzer, his words [[?]] when I don't yet know. He has great strength, great unselfishness, aha,
