Dear Doris:

Well, I arrived and Dad was awaiting me. It was such a long ride. Hazel D and a Brides sister assisted me,- one carrying the ms. case, the other the bag, and we all sat together. But on the long ride I had only boresome strangers,- a porky chap who sprawled all over me, with his arms & legs and his head lulled in slumber. I had all I could do to resist sticking a pin in him.

Dad has had a banquet & wedding for social affairs since my departure. Archer got married. Poor Dad after losing his key and getting locked in the Lib. of Congress, has had his car frozen up, and then had to have a new carburetor put in, one thing after another. But he had the house in unexpected neat and clean appearance, tho' I never saw such a dirty towel. Shall get busy on a wash today.

I just stepped out to see if I could see any signs of crocuses, and a chorus of birds greeted me, a robin squawking over by the Browns and another giffing behind the Williamses, and song sparrows every where. Dad hasn't seen a grackle, but Allard has. There's a snow drop out & crocuses budded.

Dad has ring worm all over his legs and is under Dr Nolan's care - a kind of salve he gives him. I hope to goodness I don't catch it as I did your impetigo so many years ago.

Dear Doris: It is nice to have mother home again & to have a clean tablecloth on the table. The cat also appreciates her return. I have got a new coffee dripolater and I think it makes a much better product than the old stewed stuff we
