with this ship in 1907, the most noteworthy [[crossed-out]] of which was his work [[crossed out]] being at the St. Louis International Balloon Races [[crossed-out]] at St. Louis, Missouri [[crossed out]] in October where he won several prizes. There on October 22nd, Dixon left the Balloon Park, pedaled over the city, crossed the Mississippi River and landed at Venice, Illinois, a distance of several miles. Mrs. Dixon advertised in the aviation magazines: "Exhibition dates being accepted for Cromwell Dixon, Jr., the world's youngest inventor and aeronaut". These ac-tivies continued,  [[crossed-out]] however it was recorded that [[crossed out]] they could have secured consider-ably more business with better exhibition-promotion management. 
Reportedly this airship was destroyed by fire in 1908, then the Dixons started a new 45-foot ship which was powered by a Curtiss single cylinder motorcycle engine. With this new craft Dixon started his exhibition season in May, 1909, at Indianapolis, [[crossed-out]] Indiana [[crossed out]] where his flights were well received for some time. In July he started flying at Lakeside Park, Dayton, Ohio, then later that fall at Cincinnati, Ohio, at Latonia Race Track. Knabenshue and Beachey were also flying there with their airships. 
From June 28th to July 5th, 1910, Dixon and Fred Owens [[crossed-out]] both [[crossed out]] flew airships at an air meet in Montreal, Canada. At that time Knabenshue was Exhibition Manager for the Wright brothers and [[crossed-out]]  he [[crossed out]] was there with aviator Brookins, Johnstone and La Chappele. Also flying [[crossed-out]] aeroplanes [[crossed out]] airplanes there were J.A.D. McCurdy and Count de Lesseps, who had two Bleriot monoplanes, one with a 35 h.p. Anzani engine, the other with a 50 h.p. Gnome. At the event Dixon made a number of fine airship flights but had the misfortune to lose his craft then it got free from the moorings while unattended, ascending a high altitude and bursting. 
Dixon was very discouraged but then became interested in learning to fly an airplane. Again Mrs. Dixon approached Knabenshue, [[crossed-out]] about this [[crossed out]] but he informed her that he had no openings and could not take him on. [[crossed-out]] After being turned down by Knabenshue [[crossed out]] The Dixons then approached deLesseps who, after some persuasion, allowed Dixon to try a hop in the 25 Anzani Bleriot. Dixon had never [[crossed-out]] had a rid in aeroplane [[crossed out]] been in an airplane, must less ever tried to fly one, but he climbed in and took off on what was described as probably the world's most sensational, hair-rising first flight ever made. More than once he narrowly escaped a serious crash, but after [[crossed-out]] terribly [[crossed out]] frightening everyone he
