14th, 1953, at age 76, survived by his wife.  Following funeral services in Hammondsport, New York his remains were taken to Plattsburg, New York for burial.  Herrman was a member of the Early Birds, Elks, and a 32d-Degree Mason [[?]]of the Bath, New York Lodge.
     Flying Pioneer, Early Bird Charles W. Herrman must be recorded as of one of the group of aviation enthusiasts who showed their faith in the new science of flight by buying a plane and learning to operate it during the early period.  While he did not do much flying, and was not a licensed pilot, he nevertheless did assist in the early start of aviation.  Later he became a successful business man and established an industry that became one of the nation's leading boat building companies.
