The following members were unable to attend: Vice President Barkley, Representative Cox, Mr. Cannon and Dr. Davis. 

TENURE OF DR. WETMORE AS SECRETARY

Mr. Fleming, Chairman of the Executive Committee, made the following motion, duly seconded by Dr. Compton: 

WHEREAS, at its meeting of May 3, 1951, the Board of Regents by resolution extended the term of Dr. Alexander Wetmore of the Smithsonian Institution following his attainment of the age of 65 years, (this being the accepted age for normal retirement) until such time as his successor has been duly elected; and
WHEREAS, Since an interval of time may intervene between the election of his successor, and the assumption by this successor of his duties of the Secretaryship; 
THEREFORE, be it resolved, that the term of Dr. Wetmore as Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution shall continue until his successor shall assume the duties of the office of Secretary. 

The motion was adopted by unanimous vote.
