RESOLUTION ON DEATHS OF REGENTS HARVEY NATHANIEL DAVIS AND EUGENE E. COX

The Secretary offered the following resolutions to be recorded in the minutes:

RESOLVED: That the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution has received with deep sorrow the announcement of the death on December 3, 1952, of Dr. Harvey Nathaniel Davis.

RESOLVED: That in his death the country has lost one of its outstanding citizens, a man distinguished for his accomplishments and education in engineering, in the promotion of science, and in the service of his country in scientific affairs. That the wise counsel and friendly presence of Dr. Davis in consideration of the affairs of the Institution will be sadly missed by his associates on this Board.

RESOLVED: That these resolutions be entered in the minutes of the Board and that a copy be sent to Mrs. Davis with an expression of the personal loss felt by the Regents at the death of Dr. Davis.

On motion, the above resolution was adopted.
