Winner of the Harper Electric Furnace Award. On motion duly made, seconded and carried, these recommendations were VOTED approved. The Commission also voted to recommend to the Board of Regents the re-election for the usual four-year period the following members whose terms expired in 1953: Robert Woods Bliss John Nicholas Brown George Hewitt Myers Mahonri M. Young and to recommend the election of Reginald Marsh to fill the vacancy caused by the death of John Taylor Arms, and the election of Charles H. Sawyer to replace Eugene Speicher whose membership had been terminated through his failure to attend three annual meetings; such procedure being provided by the constitution of the Smithsonian Art Commission. On motion duly made, seconded and carried, these recommendations were VOTED approved. The Secretary announced that officers of the Commission for the ensuing year were by election as follows: Chairman, Paul Manship Vice Chairman, Robert Woods Bliss Secretary, Leonard Carmichael Executive Committee David E. Finley, Chairman Robert Woods Bliss Gilmore D. Clarke George Hewitt Myers Leonard Carmichael (ex officio) Paul Manship (ex officio) On motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was VOTED to approve the report of the Smithsonian Art Commission.
