INSTALLATION OF ACTING CHAIRMAN

Owing to his having to leave for the Supreme Court the Chancellor relinquished the chair to Mr. Robert V. Fleming, Chairman of the Executive Committee at 10:50 a.m. Mr. Fleming assumed the chair of the presiding officer for the balance of the meeting. 

After detailed discussion Senator Saltonstall offered, and Senator Smith seconded, the following resolution that on motion was unanimously

VOTED: 

RESOLVED, That the Board of Regents recommends the selection of McKim, Mead & White as architects for the Museum of History and Technology building, and that said firm be authorized to employ an architectural firm of its choosing in the District of Columbia, and to employ other architectural and engineering services which it may require. 

After further discussion Mr. Vorys moved, and Mr. Cannon seconded, the following resolution that on motion was 

VOTED: 

RESOLVED, That negotiations with the architect shall be conducted for the Board of Regents by the Chairman of the Executive Committee and the Secretary; That final action shall be taken with the concurrence of the Chancellor; That the actions taken in this matter shall be reported by the Secretary to all members of the Board of Regents in writing. 

Mr. Fleming read a letter which he had addressed to Mr. Bartholomew, Chairman of the National Capital Planning Commission. It was suggested that the Chairman of the Executive Committee at an appropriate time continue his discussions with the Chairman of the National Capital Planning Commission concerning alternate sites for the National Air Museum. 

Senator Anderson then moved, and Senator Smith seconded, the following resolution that on motion was

VOTED: 

RESOLVED, That the Regents of the Smithsonian Institution reaffirm their belief that from the standpoint
