of the convenience of visitors to all of the Smithsonian museums and adequacy as to size, the selected site for the National Air Museum on the south side of Independence Avenue from 9th to 12th Streets is the only fully satisfactory site now known to them; That the Regents, having considered the suggested alternative site on the south side of Independence Avenue bridging 7th and 9th Streets, find that it would be inadequate and functionally unworkable, but nevertheless the Regents, recognizing their continuing responsibility to the visiting public and to a coherent plan for the Nation's Capital, will continue to consider alternate sites for the National Air Museum subject to the approval of the National Capital Planning Commission. 

It was reported that the Executive Director of the District of Columbia Redevelopment Land Agency had requested that the Regents authorize this agency to acquire land for future museum buildings south of Independence Avenue. After discussion Dr. Hunsaker moved, and Senator Smith seconded, the following resolution that on motion was

VOTED: 

RESOLVED, That the Secretary be authorized to advise the Executive Director of the District of Columbia Redevelopment Land Agency that his request had been considered and at the appropriate time the Board of Regents would discuss the matter further. 

REPORT ON REAPPOINTMENT OF TWO CONGRESSIONAL REGENTS

On March 30, 1955, The President of the Senate reappointed Senator Clinton P. Anderson of New Mexico and Senator Leverett Saltonstall of Massachusetts, members from the Senate, for another six year term. They were first appointed on March 8, 1949. 

REPORT ON REAPPOINTMENT OF CITIZEN REGENT

The term of Dr. Jerome C. Hunsaker, Citizen Regent from Massachusetts, was continued by Joint Resolution of Congress on June 3, 1955, for another six year term. Dr. Hunsaker was first appointed on March 24, 1949. 

REPORT ON APPOINTMENT OF NEW MEMBER

On February 3, 1955, the Speaker of the House appointed Representative Overton Brooks of Louisiana a member of the Board from the House of Representatives, to succeed Representative Leroy Johnson.
