The twelve members, who were present at the meeting of the Smithsonian Art Commission held on December 4, 1956, and acted as the advisory committee on works of art which had been offered to the National Collection of Fine Arts since the last meeting, recommended acceptance of the following objects of art:

Oil, The Dog Trader, by Richard N. Brooke (1847-1920), offered by Colonel Thomas G. Young, Jr.

Two watercolors, Emergence and Tulips, by Andrey Avinoff (1884-1949), offered by Mrs. Elizabeth Shoumatoff, accepted on condition that they be held until eligible for consideration of the Accession Committee of the National Gallery of Art.

Oil, Furbelows, by Albert sterner, N.A. (1863-1946), Henry Ward Ranger Bequest.

Oil, Days of Sunshine, by William Wendt, N.A. (1865-1946), Henry Ward Ranger Bequest.

Three etchings by Carl Oscar Borg (1879-1947), offered anonymously by Mrs. Martin O. Elmberg, Widow of the artist:
