VOTED that the Board of Regents approves the Report of the Executive Committee as presented and directs that it be included in the minutes of the present meeting.

The report is as follows:

Since the last meeting of the Board of Regents one meeting of the Executive Committee has been held. This was on March 9, 1960. The meeting was attended by the Chancellor, Honorable Earl Warren, Honorable Clarence Cannon and myself as Chairman. The Secretary, Dr. Leonard Carmichael, was also present. Mr. Cannon was summoned from the meeting to the floor of Congress at the very beginning of the session. Dr. Caryl P. Haskins was unable to be present because of a conference in another city. After the meeting the actions taken by the Committee were discussed with Mr. Cannon and Dr. Haskins. Both have given their approval to the actions taken.

At the meeting the Secretary presented a brief history of actions taken by the Board in relation to the construction of the new Museum of History and Technology of the Smithsonian Institution. He reviewed Public Law 106, which authorized construction of the building, and the relevant extract from the U.S. Code concerning the responsibilities of the Administrator of the General Services Administration in connection with the building's construction. He also reviewed the minutes of the meeting of the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution held on January 15, 1960, concerning the new Museum of History and Technology. He reported that, as directed, the motion related to the building, recorded in those minutes, has been transmitted to Mr. Floete. His reply, dated February 18, 1960, was then presented, reading as follows:
