Senator Fulbright, the following resolution was unanimously VOTED:

RESOLVED, That the Board of Regents recognizes a national responsibility for the development of the National Zoological Park; and that the Secretary is directed to prepare plans and estimates necessary to develop a program of capital improvements at the National Zoological Park.

MEMBERSHIP IN BOARD OF REGENTS

The Secretary reported that the necessary steps, according to established practice, had been taken to effect the following reappointments of Congressional Regents:

From the Senate
Senator Clinton P. Anderson
Senator Leverett Saltonstall

From the House of Representatives
Honorable Frank T. Bow
Honorable Overton Brooks
Honorable Clarence Cannon

It was expected that these reappointments would be effective very shortly. The Secretary further reported that Senator Anderson had already introduced in the Senate S.J.Res. 6 to provide for the reappointment of Dr. Jerome C. Hunsaker as a Citizen Regent.

ANNUAL REPORT OF THE SECRETARY

The Secretary submitted his annual report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1960, including the Financial Report of the Executive Committee, in printed form. Copies of this report were on the table. On motion by Dr. Brown, seconded by Dr. Greenwalt, and carried it was

VOTED that the Board of Regents accepts the Report of the Secretary as printed in the Annual Report of the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution for 1960 as distributed on December 30, 1960.
