it was noted that the Executive Committee had taken the following action at its meeting on December 14, 1960:

VOTED that pursuant to the vote of the Board of Regents January 17, 1958 the Executive Committee considered the nonpublic funds budget of the Smithsonian Institution for the fiscal year 1962 and approves this budget and directs that it be reported to the Board of Regents at the next annual meeting.

On motion by Senator Fulbright, seconded by Dr. Haskins, and carried it was

VOTED that the Board of Regents approves the budget of the nonpublic funds for the fiscal year 1962 as recommended by the Executive Committee.

INCOME AND EXPENDITURE

On motion by Dr. Greenewalt, seconded by Dr. Haskins, and carried it was

VOTED that the Board of Regents appropriate for the service of the Institution, to be expended by the Secretary, with the advice of the Executive Committee, with full discretion on the part of the Secretary as to items, the income of the Institution for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1962.

POSSIBLE BEQUEST TO THE SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION

The Secretary reported in some detail concerning the possibility of a large bequest to the Smithsonian Institution, but at the request of the prospective donor no formal record of the matter was made.

CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS OF THE MUSEUM OF HISTORY AND TECHNOLOGY

The Secretary reported that progress is being made on the construction of the building. At the present time, however, there has been a serious slippage as compared with the expected rate of progress. A construction status report is sent each month to all members of the Board of Regents and to the members of the Joint Congressional Committee of the Senate and House on the Building. The last report showed a further delay.
