The Regents declined to discuss the building with Mr. Hunter from the Public Buildings Service, General Services Administration.

CONCESSIONAIRE FOR FOOD SERVICES IN THE MUSEUM OF HISTORY AND TECHNOLOGY

There was discussion of the selection of a suitable concessionaire for the cafeteria. Mention was made in particular of Hot Shoppes, Howard Johnson and Government Services Incorporated. It was pointed out that Government Services Incorporated had a contract at the National Gallery of Art that has proved satisfactory. It was also commented that the concession might preferably be awarded to some other operator. On motion by Senator Anderson, seconded by Dr. Compton, and carried it was

VOTED that the Board of Regents directs the Secretary and the Executive Committee to study the matter of the selection of a concessionaire for the operation of the cafeteria in the Museum of History and Technology, and to report at the spring meeting of the Board.

NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY

Dr. Brown stressed the importance that enabling legislation be passed in regard to the National Portrait Gallery. On motion by Mr. Bow, seconded by Dr. Brown, and carried it was

VOTED that the Board of Regents requests the Regents who are Members of the House of Representatives to further the enactment of the National Portrait Gallery Legislation by obtaining House Floor action on H. R. 8446, 87th Congress.

ADDITIONS TO THE NATURAL HISTORY BUILDING

The Secretary announced that the construction of the east wing of this building is ahead of schedule, and that it is expected to be completed by January, 1963 rather than March, 1963. Senator Anderson requested that the contractor, George Hyman Construction Company, be notified that the Board of Regents received with pleasure the news that construction of the east wing is ahead of schedule.
