MINUTES OF THE MAY 18, 1962 MEETING

The Secretary stated that the minutes of the meeting had been mailed to the members of the Board. On motion by Senator Saltonstall, seconded by Dr. Brown, and carried it was

VOTED that the Board of Regents approves the minutes of the meeting of May 18, 1962, as submitted to the members by mail.

WELCOME TO NEW MEMBER

By Joint Resolution of Congress on July 2, 1962 Dr. William A. M. Burden was appointed for a term of six years to succeed Dr. Arthur H. Compton, deceased, as a Regent. Dr. Burden was welcomed to the Board and the hope was expressed that he would enjoy his service on the Board.

REAPPOINTMENT OF REGENT FROM THE SENATE

On January 14, 1963 the President of the Senate reappointed Senator J. W. Fulbright of Arkansas, member from the Senate, for a six-year term. He was first appointed on February 5, 1959.

REAPPOINTMENT OF REGENTS FROM THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

The Speaker of the House of Representatives reappointed Representative Frank T. Bow, Representative Clarence Cannon and Representative Michael J. Kirwan to serve for two-year terms, effective December 26, 1962, as Regents from the House of Representatives.

REAPPOINTMENT OF MEMBER

The Secretary reported that the six-year term of Dr. John Nicholas Brown would expire March 14, 1963. On motion by Mr. Bow, seconded by Dr. Haskins, and carried it was

VOTED to instruct the Secretary to request members of the Board of Regents in the Senate and in the house of Representatives to introduce a Joint Resolution of reappoint Dr. John Nicholas Brown for another six-year term as a member of the Board of Regents.
