same delays already experienced are applied to the remaining dates on the floor plans, it was concluded that by September the building should be occupied to a substantial degree.

REPORT OF SUBCOMMITTEE ON ORRERY

Dr. Brown stated he met several times with his fellow Regent, Dr. William A. M. Burden. Dr. Brown asked for an expression from the Regents as to an approximate amount that could be spent. After discussion concerning the design and agreement that the exhibit could either be an orrery or some other appropriate symbol, on motion by Dr. Fleming, seconded by Dr. Haskins, and carried it was 

VOTED that the Board of Regents reserves a sum, not to exceed $75,000, from the balance of the construction appropriation for the planning and construction of an orrery or similar architectural feature for the Museum of History and Technology.

PLANS FOR LANDSCAPING

As directed by the Board of Regents on January 24, 1963, plans for landscaping the grounds of the building had been sent to the members of the Board of Regents and of the Joint Congressional Committee on Construction of a Building for a Museum of History and Technology for the Smithsonian Institution. There was a brief favorable discussion of the plans. 

ADDITIONS TO THE NATURAL HISTORY BUILDING

The Secretary reported that the East Wing is essentially complete, is in use, and is a splendid addition to the Smithsonian buildings. The West Wing plans and specifications are complete, invitations for bids will be advertised on May 23, and bids are scheduled to be opened on June 27. As suggested in the Regents meeting on January 24, 1963, the Chancellor, the Chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee, and the Chairman of the Executive Committee would be notified as soon as the bids are received.

STATUS OF APPROPRIATION FOR NATIONAL AIR MUSEUM

The Secretary reported that the sum of $511,000 was requested for the preparation of plans and specifications in the Budget for fiscal year 1964 to finance a portion of the planning.
