4. Senator Dirksen's bill (S. 315)

"To amend the National Culture Center Act, as amended, to enlarge the site within which the National Center may be built."

On motion by Dr. Greenewalt, seconded by Senator Saltonstall, and carried it was

VOTED that the Board of Regents raises no objection to the proposals of the Trustees of the National Cultural Center in the matter of the site of the National Cultural Center.

5. Mr. McDowell's Joint Resolution (H.J. Res. 241) and Mr. Thompson's Joint Resolution (H.J. Res. 243)

"To amend the joint resolution of May 17, 1938, to extend the benefits, by the use of artmobiles and other means, of the National Collection of Fine Arts to museums and art galleries in the smaller cities and towns, and to rural communities, and for other purposes."

The Secretary stated that some of the Smithsonian Art Commission members do not approve of this idea.  The value of artmobiles was discussed and attention was drawn to the fact that the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition Service circulates art and science shows throughout the United States.  On motion by Dr. Brown, seconded by Dr. Greenewalt, and carried it was

VOTED that the Board of Regents does not favor the enactment of H.K. Res. 241 and H.J. Res 243, and requests that it be explained politely that an "Association for the National Collection of Fine Arts" would not be necessary.

6. Draft Bill Proposed by the Board of Trustees of the National Cultural Center

"To amend the National Cultural Center Act, to enlarge the site within which the National Cultural Center may be built; to enlarge the Board of Trustees, and for other purposes."

On motion by Dr. Brown, seconded by Dr. Greenewalt, and carried it was

VOTED that the Board of Regents raises no objection to the proposals of the Trustees of the National Cultural Center to amend the National Cultural Center Act as proposed in its draft bill concerning enlarging its site, enlarging its Board of Trustees, and other purposes.
