experiment: differencing technique – send radiation (from Earth) through "vacuum" cell + cell containing only co -> co pulls out characteristics resulting from atmospheric co [hardware has been flown in a/c] - date recorded on digital recorder in bay - pallet includes 35mm color IR camera (takes 1 photo every 24 sec -> 60° FOV ..... photos are time-tagged) <- uses shuttle time source(GMT) Camera functions only during daylight, + is inhibited during instrument calibration - cooling from coldplate (7°±7°C) - power 150 watts peak, 90 watts avg -> sensitive to thermal environment + lighting (PLB lights during dark passes may activate camera, even though Earth is in darkness)
