Each experiment (except MAUS1/FPL) has dedicated connection to the DHS. The type of I/O [[/left margin]]
depends on the exp (e.g. MASS SPEC has all 5 types above, MAUS 2 has discrete cmds only; MOMS has analog data (its pressure, video, etc) but no seriel  data - that's on a dedicated recorder)

MODUS contains "EMER-OFF" logic circuit which it uses for each experiment: if it sees an "OFF" cmd from KYBD, but no "OFF" status in 10 sec, it cmds the "EMER-OFF" relay (in series with "OFF" only) to open
NOTE: each experiment also has internal capacitors & circuitry which switch it off if power is lost
