Dear folks, 

I hope the pleasant fall weather here is continued for your weekend "South". Tuesday night was our last warm night, too warm for coats even over cotton! I don't know how old Mr Garis is, but can guess - he has been at grad school here 4 years, so should be 25 (minus possible [[strikethrough]] army [[/strikethrough]] but somehow improbable army). The Laymans -- Mr teaches English A at Wellesley, is quiet, [[strikethrough]] friendly [[/strikethrough]] intellectual-looking (a scholar look of sorts), & of the friendliness which encourages the prevalent confession type of Eng A theme among his girls. His wife is blonde, quiet, seemed tired that evening; not so intellectual as he.

About Cook - indirectly last night I heard more.
