January 20

1978 - Friday - 22 degrees at 7AM - Heavy snow storm - at least a foot - cleared path to bird feeder before breakfast. Plowed, shoveled, plowed & shoveled! About 14" of snow - no paper or mail delivery - banks, schools closed. Finished cleaning & waxing kitchen except for back wall. Looks good. No hobbies as all other time was spent moving snow and keeping feeders filled. 

1979 - Saturday - 10 degrees at 6:45 - warming up to snow! Wes made a plate holder - cleaned den fireplace - hobbied.  I waxed floors - wrote to Joan - sent her Mohonk article - finished applique part of skirt - Snow started about 1:30 - very light and off and on - not much on ground until night. To Mary & Jule's at 6 pm - Jule celebrating break even point of insurance. Neighbors there - good dinner. Four inches of snow and very slippery en route home.  Sun 7:16 - 4:58

1980 - Sunday - 34 degrees at 6:15 - Not to cold but felt like it was partly cloudy and high winds
To 8 o'clock Mass - Father McBride
Wes and I checked tax checks against checkbook. Wes then balanced books - I added checks - More tax work
Hobbies in afternoon. I shortened pleated brown skirt

1981 - Tuesday - 20 degrees at 6 AM - Inauguration Day for Reagan - Release of hostages from Iran.- Watched on TV and in evening the landing in Algiers.
Off and on sun - not as good a day as yesterday. High in 40's.
Took drug bills to Pharmacy for completion of forms. To Scalzo - took sample of quarry tile. Mike Mannion brought house plans for review.

1982 - Wednesday - 15 degrees at 6 AM - Fair, sunny day - fooled the weatherman who said icy rain Lucky for us as left at 9 AM for bank, gasoline - to Altmans - bought towels - Bloomingdale's bought vest and sweater for Wes' birthday and rubbers - ate lunch there - to Dr Savetzky for 1 o'clock appointment - wax in Wes' ear - home via Eastchester - bought blue skirt at Jaegers - pantyhose at Plymouth and grey skirt at Lord & Taylor - stopped at Marcus - home at 4 pm - washed much of car - Well driller worked.

January 21

1978 - Saturday - 18 degrees at 7 AM - Snow flurries until noon cleared then & we had some sunshine but too cold to melt any ice. Sun 715-5:00. Hobby day - did very little for house - cleaned den - Wes put out barrels for TR again - never came. I finished blue knit golf skirt and made a cake. Wes plowed in morning - two more inches. Birds not eating as ravenously as yesterday Mail delivered - Texas Fireframe was missing left arm.

1979 - Sunday - 32 degrees at 6 A - Heard big noise and got up to see if cellar window was broken as had rained all night - no - must have been snow falling from roof Sun 7:15 -4:58. To 930 Mass with Catherine Ghee very rough going - very few people there - Father Greiner Road flooding on return - rain most of day - pond flooded to underside of little bridge. Hobbied. Wes shoveled the sloppy mess. To Billie Newell's at 5 pm for a cocktail - slow going on watery roads.

1980 - Monday - 24 degrees at 5:50 - 7:15-4:59 Sun. Cold day - Mostly sunny but high winds. To Mass. Wes had a haircut - I shopped Grand Union & Marcus enroute home. At 2 pm I had a haircut by Terry of James of Ridgefield - Peggy at Village Beauty having gone to Danbury - bought material for a cover up - oatmeal at Grand Union for $1.29 - Thomas Protein bread is now 95 cents everywhere Wes hobbied - I cut out coverup on return home - Lots of ducks

1981 - Wednesday - 3 degrees at 6 AM. pond open one spot Sun 7:15 - 5:00. Thomas Protein bread 95 cents at Basics, $1.05 everywhere else. Two groups mallards - 12 and 15.
Beautiful winter day - just over freezing but sun warm. I worked at Greenhouse 9-12 - shopped Brunetti. Wes worked in shop. Possum on terrace. Mike Mannion gave us set of house plans for review.

1982 - Thursday - 18 degrees at 6:15 and snowing Sun 4:15-5 PM - Snow stopped about noon - 2" - Wes shoveled the front walk. To 7:30 Mass.
I went to Ridgefield with Gizella - Brunetti - Grand Central - Savarin Coffee on coupon at $1.99. Usually coffee is $2.18 now - to Ridgefield Saving Bank to have passbook updated - left needlepoint doorstop at Yarubee for mounting - material from J.R. [[?]] for dinette chairs - Well only drilled to 22 feet - changed to 6" casing - [[?]] very hard - also split wood & worked in shop - I made apple tart.
