January 28

1978 - Saturday - 16 degrees at 6:30 - Partly cloudy - cold all day - 4 degrees at bedtime Sun 7:10-5:08
Wes went to Ace Hardware for supplies - found them. Cars blocking road at Yellow Freight so he had to return home via Mery Brook. Sheets of ice there 
Hobbied most of day. I put belt on brown 
tweed skirt and thanked God it fit (my own design!)
Out to fill feeders & chip ice but very cold and windy.

1979 - Sunday - 25 degrees at 6 AM. Cloudy day. To 9:30 Mass (Ghee's have their car repaired) Prepared dinner
Wes brought tractor back to garage from barn - had been there since Friday to make room for Forcelli's car.
Eileen here at noon - had wonderful day celebrating Wes' birthday - Eileen gave him a "Mallard" belt
Watched "When Boat Comes In", "Upstairs Downstairs" and last of "Duchess of Duke Street" on TV in evening.

1980 - Monday - 20 degrees at 5:45 - Clear cold beautiful winter day - some winter we are having! Thank God
To 7:30 Mass. Dug pot of Palestrina tulips from cold frame - took Tete-a-tete daffodils from styrofoam box in garage - these are for [[Greenf?]] show. Jule brought Wes a cookbook for his birthday - glass salad bowl for me. (Mary's old one) Hobbies - I finished coverup. Wes made [[suck?]] holder - will change it to larger wire mesh. Wes [[?]] cylinders for his model. 

1981 - Wednesday - 18 degrees at 6:30. Wes in shop I made out seed orders and sent them off. After lunch and nap to Basics for groceries - filled up with gasoline as all controls coming off - paid $1.44. gallon. Fuel oil delivered yesterday - 310 gallons @ $1.1

1982 - Thursday - 17 degrees at 7 AM. Beautiful sky in East - first morning no light over breakfast table. Rolled out of bed without pulling back muscle Sun 7:10-5:08. Good sunrise - becoming cloudy and snow flurries at 2 pm. I rested my back - we went to Carnall with repair estimate to forward to [[?]] Redman's insurance - bought paisley and [[?]] Ballard's sale - picked up [[?]] Blessing Prints. Shopped Grand Central for coffee [[?]] at $1.99 - Skippy on coupon at $1.89 - haven't had any in long time. 
Well now at 52 feet.

January 29
Wes' Birthday

1978 - Sunday - 0 degrees at 6:30. Fair. Sun 709-509 To 930 Mass. Left for Stouffers Westchester Inn in Harrison at 11 o'clock. Met Eileen and Mary there for Wes' birthday luncheon. Place not quite finished - beautiful spot but we didn't think a beautiful design - Good meal and pleasant personnel. Home at 3:30 - nap - looked at lots of [[funnies?]] Eileen gave us. Last of "I Claudius" at night. Enjoyed it - marvelous acting.

1979 - Monday - 34 degrees at 6 AM. Sun 7:09-5:09 (from George Edwards - NY Times giving incorrect times last few days). Beautiful sunrise. Wes put wood plate stop in lower shelf Kettinger diningroom cabinet. Mary & Jule brought Chivas Regal for Wes' birthday - Helen Ross left her key - they go to Naples today. To Pickwick Antique Shop Bethel to look at server - not for us. Wes worked in shop. I finished cotton blouse. Ironed linen placemats. Started seed order.

1980 - Tuesday - 10 degrees at 6:15. Fair, beautiful winter day 7:10-5:09.
Did few chores - Wes in shop - To Greenhouse to leave cucumber and 2 trays of cuttings - Brunetti for small knife to take away - suet for birds - picked up tickets
To Ricky Harrison to leave tulip and tete-a-tete daffodils - to Brewster Railroad Station to get timetable and information on Brewster taxi - Arch closed - lunched at Fox Ridge - home at 2:30 for nap - Wes in shop - I finished tax - we owe! Good day. 

1981 - Thursday - 25 degrees at 6 AM - National Day of Thanksgiving for Hostages return. No Mass as Father Medjeski on vacation. Shop and hobby hour. To Ridgefield to pick up Wes' new slacks - shop Brunetti and cheese shop - birthday luncheon at Inn.
Returned home for nap - get up wood - fill feeders etc. Cold day, quite windy. Made macaroon pies for Saturday - overflowed pans to burn oven floor.

1982 - Friday - 22 degrees at 7:15.Fair Sun 7:09-5:09 Warmer - temperature rose to 40 degrees - tropical to us. Had a glass of wine before luncheon in the Solar. Wes had a quiet birthday - I made him a cake in the cuisinart but our machine not powerful enough to mix it - finished it in KitchenAid. Wes to Agway for thistle seed - rest of day in shop and having coffee with Ev. Pierce - making slow progress on well - work very hard - Took out one saucer of Tete-a-Tete - put other two away again as per Sandy Cross instructions
