March 14

1978 - Tuesday - Treasure Cay - Beautiful Day. Walked to golf course - played 9 holes, last two with Taylors from Michigan - better game. To grocery store for bread for lunch - nap - to beach - we both went swimming and had a long walk. Cocktail - dinner - read - bed. (Did a wash today)

1979 - Wednesday - 46º at 5:45 - Cloudy - Saw first robin and 3 Mallards (2 males) at breakfast. Earl Sturgis finished papering about 3:30 pm - paper looks beautiful in hall - not sure of rug. To Brewster Brady Stannard to look at Chevy front wheel drive - looked good - will be introduced April 19th. To look at Plymouth Horizon in Danbury - didn't like it. I went for haircut at 3 o'clock. Put furniture and rugs back in hall.

1980 - Friday - at Eileen's Tarrytown - about 4 inches heavy wet snow. Left at 8:15 for New York Botanical Garden - snowing heavily after our arrival. Bus left at 10 oclock - Philadelphia La Terrasse Restaurant one o'clock - Flower Show at Civic Center 2 / 4:30 - very beautiful - returned to Bronx via Pennsylvania Turnpike(!) Garden at 7:15 - drove to Tarrytown - 8 pm - dinner - bed.

1981 - Saturday - 25º at 6:30 - Fair - windy and very cold - not over 30 all day. To bank and Marcus and then indoors except to feed birds and Harley - Dubay's black and white duck, who now knows where the corn comes from. Pair Mallard here occasionally.
Wes in shop. I made cupcakes & brownies - not very successful. Had Irish coffee for Daddy's birthday.

1982 - Sunday - 38º at 6 AM - Solar was 52º with door to dinette open. Fair - breezy - really high wind but a lovely day - first rather warm day in Solar Room - had to open window and pull shades.
To 8 o'clock Mass. Prepared lunch and house for Timpanelli's and Terry Keller - here at 12:15 until 4 o'clock. Gave us endive - we gave Al lettuce plants.
To Ruth Sharp's at 5 - Jessups and Father Tighe there. Home for snak and last episode of Admiral Nelson.

March 15

1978 - Wednesday - Treasure Cay - Beautiful Day. After breakfast phoned Mackey, Marsh Harbor, tried to change reservations from Saturday to Friday. All full. Robert Smyth, Villa 712, had notice of a charter to West Palm - talked to Mrs Smyth, he being on golf course. Walked towards point - back thru new apartments at Atlantis. Lunch & nap. To beach for swim and walk, saw Smyths there and confirmed charter on Saturday.

1979 - Thursday - 23º at 6 AM - clear. Red light on the mountain off at 6:23 after sun hit it - works on light as it went off at 6:44 yesterday. Pat here to clean. We left at 8:45 for White Plains - Handleman's - no lamp lights - to Baltman Rug Dept - bought a 7 X 10 Tabriz for just under $4,000! a one-third saving - Came home for lunch and after Pat left moved harvest table into livingroom and replaced it with wood drop-leaf table - rearranged lamps and chairs - hung pictures - changed guest room furniture.

1980 - Saturday - morning at Eileen's - Fair cold windy day - left at 8 o'clock - to Alter's Bakery for Irish soda bread - Barclay's Hardware Pleasantville for Tarnite polish - drove down Pleasant Avenue to see old house - shopped for groceries - home to find driveway blocked by snow. Wes plowed - tractor did usual good job - shoveled terrace after lunch & Wes had couple hours in shop - plants from cuttings under lights in cellar doing well.

1981 - Sunday - 26º at 6 AM. Fair - Sun on hill light and it went off at 6:22. To 8 o'clock Mass - Stopped at Bogus Brian Tierney and brother Kevin were there with the log splitter. Wes changed clothes and returned with tractor/wagon - moved more wood to rear.
Back for lunch & nap. I joined Wes in afternoon - Wes moved wood - I cut brush and small trees on cliff and below. Wheels broke on log splitter at quitting time. Sunny day - high about 50º.

1982 - Monday - 29º at 6:30 - Cloudy - became mostly fair - cool.
I went to Ballard for soil. Would only sell one bag as they are low. Had haircut & bought suet. Home for lunch and nap. Transplanted lettuce into coldframe. Wes brought it out of hay loft - set up on south side. Transplanted Minibel tomatoes into hanging baskets - leaving Solar door open to kitchen - tomatoes under plant light.
