March 26

1978 - Easter Sunday - Snowing lightly! Were we lucky to have such good weather on our trip? Changed to freezing rain later. To 9:30 Mass. Eileen & Mary here at noon - phoned Joanie - Pam with her - Pam & Tig had bought house in Rochester - to Mary & Jule's at 2pm for dinner. Eileen & Mary left for home at 5pm. We started going over magazines and papers that had accumulated during our trip.

1979 - Monday - 35° at 6am - Clear. Chased the Canada geese pair after breakfast. Set out traps for the two squirrels - didn't catch them. To 7:30 Mass. At 8:45 to Ridgebury School to assist Lauri [[?]] showing three 3rd grade classes how to plant beans, corn and tomato. Home at 11:15 - to Colonial Honda to place order for 4-door Honda Sedan, grey. Home for lunch and hobbies - too cold to work outdoors. I planted broccoli, leek, tomatoes, peppers, cabbage under lights.

1980 - Wednesday - 33° at 6am - Cloudy - raw feeling - cold all day - not a good outdoor work day. We strung a fence near upper dam to keep Kilduff's geese out. They can still come in along road but they didn't come for rest of day
Erhardt plumber worked on Wes bathroom sink stopper. Very stiff but hope it holds
Hobbies in afternoon. I cut out skirt and blouse.

1981 - Thursday - 16° at 5:45. Fog - cleared mid-morning to a mostly sunny day. To Mass. To Basics and for gasoline - filled up can for tractor. Took evergreen covering from front of garage and window box. At two o'clock went to Bogus - Moved 4 wagon loads of wood to back. Killed more gypsy moth eggs and cut branch 

1982 - Friday 42° at 6:30 - Raining lightly cleared in afternoon but colder - 37° at bedtime. Gezella drove and we went to Cuisinart demonstration at Bloomingdale's - very good - Did shopping - kitchen storage jars - had lunch there. Shopped at Pound Ridge Nursery enroute home - bought tree ivy. Wes had worked in shop. Transplanted the Margarita - last Cinderella amarilli coming out well have five blooms

March 27

1978 - Monday - 38° and raining - junior flood at breakfast - forecast is for more heavy rain. To 7:30 Mass. I started over to Greenhouse - heavy rain made it difficult. didn't stay - took Mackey tickets to Travel Service for refund - shopped Grand Union - Wes paid bills - I entered dividend checks - wrote Saks re bill - returned Treasure Cay key to Mrs. Ball. After lunch I cleaned terraces - picked up sticks - raked apples. Wes worked in his shop. Flood at 11 o'clock - over road - up to weeping birch. 

1979 - Tuesday - 24° at 6 AM. Sunny and cold & windy. Wes drove me to Helen Ross' and we left there for Aldrich parking lot - bus to NY Botanical Garden with Garden Club - toured Herbarium - propagating shed - lunch at Snuff Mill - then Greenhouse - shopped at Museum - home at 5:15pm. Wes had worked in shop. No geese around luckily.

1980 - Thursday - 26° at 6:00. Partly cloudy - same high cloud hiding sun as last two days when it was supposed to be fair and mild. To Mass Uncovered rhododendron at front terrace - cut cords around Arborvitae. Stopped at Jule's after Mass for wood - Wes went back 3 times for more - put it on wagon in barn. Hobbied in afternoon. Saw Marilyn Salduff at West End while raking there - said they would put up fence to keep geese in. Saw their new goat.

1981 - Friday - 40° at 6:15 - Light rain - cleared before eleven. I went to Ridgefield to grocery shop and pick up one plant light from Ballard Greenhouse. Wes worked at Bogus. I cooked after lunch - Wes returned to "the site" - moved 5 loads of wood - Alex took a truckload. Bob Allen of Rural Water Co came and said we were approved for connecting to water system - could hook in any time. Pair Canada Geese on pond at 4 pm - didn't want to be chased. 

1982 - Saturday - 26° at 6:30. Sun up - Pond free except at upper end. Windy. Weekend to be cold but sunny. House chores. Ricky Harrison brought Polly and her friend to sell us Camp Fire Girls candy. Left at noon for Coggeshall's in Croton-on-Hudson - had luncheon Friends of their's from Maine (summer vacation) who live in Westport also guests. Home at 5:30 to meet Tony Ongaro who will give estimate on dry wall at South End and flagstone on terrace. Very windy and cold - connected heater in Solar.
