March 28

1978-Friday-41° at 7 AM. Flood subsided - good to see water within banks - sunny. To Danbury via Ridgebury Road (in terrible condition) to Safe Deposit Box, left Nuveen Certificate, to Friendly Plumber - no luck on Wes' bathroom sink repair - to Mr. Banks- he is in Florida until April 8th - home via Backus Avenue - terrible condition -   digging for water line - Apex installed side door - I was guest of Louise McKeon for lunch at Elms - Anne Tracy also - to RGC at Mrs Greens Meeting at 2 pm - home 5:45

1979 Wednesday - 18° at 6 AM - Fair. Wes chased 2 Canada Geese before breakfast and put out squirrel trap. I put out corn for pair Mallards - under fir tree - they have been coming for a week - Five Wood Ducks - 4 male. Most we have ever seen at one time. Caught #24 squirrel. I went to Women's Day of Retreat at Louise McKeon's, picking up Gizela - Father Mark Grimes - home at 3:15. Wes worked in shop. We raked under willow at shed Wes chased 2 Canada Geese at 10 AM also.

1980 - Friday - 26° at 6:30. Mostly high clouds - some sun - wind - not good for outdoor work - ground a bit dryer. We picked up piles of brush left by flood along road - at blueberry patch and front of veg garden. Shopped at Finast Bethel for salad supplies for tomorrow's party for Jule - had copies made of garden club material for Vera Neligan at Staples. Took Bunny Topiary apart. Wes in shop.

1981 - Saturday - 20º at 5:45 - clear & frosty. Became beautiful day - best so far. Drained down water tank, using water on azaleas and other bushes & small trees. Righted individual bird bath. After lunch to Bogus - picked up wood - completed the double pile near Judson's - took a load to the North pile - Wes brought back a wagon load of burnable wood. Still have a couple cords needing to be split

1982 - Sunday - 18º at 6 AM - Cold night! Sunny but too cold to go outdoors until after lunch. To 8 o'clock Mass. Wrote letters - Wes paid bills Read papers, Shop for Wes. I cleared leaf mold from big rock near wood piles on south side - will use the leaf mold on garden when we make it.


March 29

1978 - Wednesday - 38º at 7 AM. Cloudy - Wes shot a muskrat before breakfast - saw pair Black Ducks and one Mallard. Became beautiful day - warmer - high around 50º

I worked at Greenhouse 9:30/11:30, dropping off clothes at cleaners before, and going to Post Office and Cohen & Fricke to pick up file on rings afterward. In afternoon I raked around driveway, cutting out dead wood in laurel and hemlock - cleaned up around dam - ground very wet. Wes searched for material to repair bathroom sink - Dan Macklin gave him some.

1979 - Thursday - 38º at 6 AM - Light rain - had rained during night. Five Mallards - 2 of them at corn. Rain ended before noon - cleared about 4 o'clock. [[strikethrough]] No Mass [[/strikethrough]] Pat here to clean. Wes bought milk, cream & ice cream at Marcus. I worked at Greenhouse 9:30-1 -shopped Grand Union following. Home for lunch. To Podiatrist Marice at 2 pm - busy office - home at 4 o'clock to prepare dinner for Jule here at five - Mary in Savannah.

1980 - Saturday - 40º at 6 AM - Light rain all day.
Prepared salad greens in morning for party at Castles' for Jule at night. Made blueberry muffins
Hobbied - I finished blue print blouse.
To Castles at 6:15 - Hearns - Varga - Eleanor Grouse - Jule there. Home at midnight.

1981 - Sunday - 30º at 5:45 - high 72º! Fair - Warmer out than in the house. To 8 o'clock Mass. Gave Wedgewood Green Leaf Queensware to Louise McKeon at church. Saw first robin! Prepared for lunch here - Bruce and Barbara Sobol - Mark & Millicent Sattler here at 12:30 - left after 4 o'clock. We cleaned up and relaxed.

1982 - Monday - 26º at 6:30 - Sunny - fair day breezy but a little milder. After house chores went to Ridgefield to bank - Brunettis - Hardware Store- decided not to get wood blinds for shop windows as cost was close to $500 - we were shocked. Caldor was out of hanging baskets - bought a few groceries at Stop & Shop. Home for lunch and nap. Made Mock Devonshire cream for dinner in Cuisinart. Out to finish cleaning off big rock at South side - cut a couple small trees over cliff. We split wood & cleaned out hole around Hemlock on south side.
