May 19

1978 - Friday - 52˚ at 5:45- Foggy- turned beautiful warm day. Trimmed and cut back side lawn etc. Big mower broke after two passes - finished with lawn boy [[Lawn Boy]] - across big bridge - flat lawn - a lot of walking. I cultivated sun garden - extremely wet
Picked asparagus

1979 - Saturday - 55˚ at 5:30. Light rain most of day - no accumulation (35/100 for last two days) Picked up Helen at 8 o'clock, to Ballards Garden Mart  Worked at "Growing Things" booth until noon - home to prepare for Eileen & Mary & Jule (M Q in Canada but Margaret didn't have operation) - Celebrated Mary's birthday.
Wes work in shop in morning. Eileen brought Baltic Ivy for window box and cucumbers. I bought Salvia and Begonias and Romaine lettuce at Mart.

1980 - Monday - 59˚ at 6 AM - Cloudy - cleared in afternoon - supposed to have thunderstorms but not here.
Planted 3 Scarletta Leucothoe in front of garage. Transplanted Ilex to back bank. Planted Salvia at retirement garden - made all impatiens hanging pot with new planters Eileen brought yesterday - Shopped drugstore - Meekers - Basics - Wes had haircut - bank - Marcus. Cut grass.

1981 - Tuesday - 34˚ at 6 AM - Cold - cloudy until mid-morning. To 10:30 Mass. Finished lawnboy [[Lawn Boy]] trimming. Wes brought over little spruce to plant where vibernum was taken out below barn. He weeded and trimmed blueberries and cultivated garden. Cleaned wooden bird feeder.

1982 - Wednesday - 56˚ at 6:30. Cloudy - off and on sun - heard thunder but [[strikethrough]] none [[/strikethrough]] no rain here unfortunately. Planted Painted Trillium on wood knoll - brought down Japanese fern from top holdgarden - one of the three bought from Wayside is coming up. Left 9:30 for Mohawk with Alex and Helen  had cocktails overlooking lake - poor lunch - home via Stone House. Erected one of the pea fences - transplanted some lettuce - gave 3 broccoli to Gizella. Planted row of beans.

May 20

1978 - Saturday - beautiful warm day - high 87˚. Garden Mart Day - to Ballard Greenhouse at 7 AM - helped set up - Wes returned home 9 AM - via grocery and liquor store. I worked at "Growin' Things" selling and cashing until sale over at 3 pm. Wes returned - carted everything from Park to Greenhouse Garage - returned Mrs. Sharp's 4 tables (one stuck in truck)
Alex & Helen stopped for drink at 5:30. To 7 pm Mass. Early bed.

1979 - Sunday - 54˚ at 6 AM. Foggy. Gloomy. -cleared a little in mid day so we could work outside but sprinkled later so we couldn't cut "knee-high" grass. To 9:30 Mass at St Elizabeth Seton as Women's Club received Communion. To Ruggiero Nursery to pick up Swing time Fuschia - looks great. Bought Impatiens planted them in big pots and in window-box with Baltic Ivy. Cultivated veg garden - picked lettuce & asparagus.

1980 - Tuesday - 56˚ at 6 AM. Partly cloudy - Had light rain overnight - nothing under trees. Planting Day - Marie Street - worked 10 to 12 - Picked up cucumber from Greenhouse - Wes put sod from Sargeant Crab in back lawn - brought out all flower pots. After lunch and nap we mixed soil for Ivy Ring workshop tomorrow - planted some pots. Wes finished cutting lawn - outside fence and at shed.

1981 - Wednesday - 34º at 6 AM. Beautiful day. Took insurance form to Aztec for signature - bought new root pruner at Meeker to replace Wes' lost one. Forgot my money, so couldn't shop. Missed Eileen's visit here by 10 minutes. Back to Basics and Meeker's and [[?]] to finish shopping.  Planted beans. Wes painted bridge  Transplanted some beets.  To Bogus - Met Mike there - climbed second floor and admired it. Discussed grading. Men almost finished septic system - Wes shot + 12 pigeon

1982 - Thursday. 62˚ at 6 AM - Cloudy - thunderstorm in afternoon 2/10 inch - not much but grateful. To 7:30 Mass for Ascension at St Peters. Shopped Basics afterwards. Planted 12 Native Azaleas on North and South side - brought down Klondike Exbury, the Sieboldiana Hosta and Eunouymus [[Euonymus]] Emerald Gaiety for [[entrance?]] bank. Bob Allen came to show switch on well bank so we have water again. Mike came in afternoon to fix den slider and install duct between Solar and Sewing Room. Voted against school budget. To Alex & Helen for a drink at 6 pm.
