August 5

1978 - Saturday - 64° at 6 AM - Cloudy. About 30 ducks. To 7:30 Mass. Deadheaded. Grass very wet but decided to cut garss anyway - finished at one o'clock just when rain started. Wes worked in shop. I washed hair, read papers. Wedding party at four-thirty - George Murphy - lives at Smith's on Bogus Road - very pretty group - To Vargas at six o'clock for dinner - Castles there,

1979 - Sunday-62° at 6 AM - more comfortable - Mallards flew away when Wes took out corn. 9 Canada Geese flew over - didn't land fortunately p To 8 o'clock Mass - chased 3 Geese on return - Relaxing day did garden chores leisurely - groomed  Ivy [[? Buirneya]] sprayed fuschia & other plants for white fly - picked beans, tomatoes & strawberries - deadheaded. To Alex & Helen at 7 pm for dinner and on to Hammond Museum for Moon viewing - Japanese music & lanterns.

1980 - Tuesday - 64° at 6 AM - Hazy - hot & humid - bad weather to continue all week.
To Mass and Marcus for milk and butter.
I went to Sandy Cousin's for meeting on December Garden Club Show - Shopped Brunetti & Stop & Shop after. Joe Taller here to work - trimmed - used weed eater - took out last white birch stump across big pond. Wes cut grass - I deadheaded - picked vegetables - first five green peppers - swept terrace. Thunder at night.

1981 - Wednesday - 68° at 6:15. Muggy - 35 Mallards. Few sprinkles in morning - shower at noon - only 1/10th but welcome. Pat Freeman and friend Joan stopped by to look at garden - luckily in good shape. Packing boxes delivered by Mariano. Dug weeds from ponds. To Bogus - grubbed out roots at south side
Door and wood trim put on second floor. Talked about cabinet and fireplace surround and shelves in sittingroom.

1982 - Thursday - 70° at 6 AM - Cloudy - partly sunny - cloudy PM again - few drops rain here only. To Mass. To Village bank to turn over six months note - Brunetti's - Bedieuts - left papers and bottles at Reclamation. Westconn Vinyl man came to measure for front door screen. After lunch played golf - many players - rain started there on 9th hole - very little here so I watered wildflowers and west slope plants. Heard Katydids first time.

August 6

1978 - Sunday - 70° at 7 A - Light rain 1/8 inch at noon.
To John & Lucienne Hartcorn's for Mass by Father Tighe at 7:30. Continental breakfast following. Indoors because of weather. Keller family - Ross's  Esther & Jerry & another couple.
Home at ten - Wes trimmed maples over terrace - lifting there - I deadheaded - moved begonias to Fern Garden - cultivated veg garden - rain started again at five. Pope Paul died.

1979 - Monday - 60° at 6 AM - Fair - more comfortable humidity - Five Mallards flew away before eating corn - To Mass - Played golf 8 / 10 - "Bill" played with us.
Wes had hour in shop. I  deadheaded & watered pot plants. Wes mowed grass below barn. I trimmed there and outside fence. Thunderstorm, unexpectedly, at three o'clock - 4/10 inch rain - very welcome.

1980 - Wednesday - 66° at 6 AM. Hot and humid - no afternoon thunder or rain. Hurricane Allen doing great damage in Caribbean.
Golf 8 - 10 - played with Tony and Jerry. Wes had 47 - I 56. Deadheaded - picked vegetables. Wes realigned stone wall at flagpole. Cut outside fence grass. Quit early as sun so hot. House not bad. Used fan at night. Have heard Katy-Dids last 3 nights.

1981 - Thursday - 56° at 6 AM - Fair - To 8 o'clock Mass. Joe Taller came to work - went to Bogus to show him scrap wood to be moved to north wood pile. We took stained ash paneling sample & [[?]] to Valley Tile & Marble - learned they has lost order - promised to expedite after we gave him selection numbers - we took marble sample "Pulato". After lunch worked at "Ponds" cutting grass deadheading - picked veggies. Took Texas Fireframe to Bogus - it fits. Town Meeting at 8 pm - voted on lease Bailon school - to [[? Bechiuger]] - it passed - we lost.

1982 - Friday - 64° at 6:30. cloudy - cleared to warm humid day - another one where at times t looked as though we would have rain - none.
Golf 8 - 10. Wes worked on cliff wall - I watered veg garden - transplanted lettuce inside fenced part to save t from groundhog. Cut grass on south side Went with Gizela to church to pick Lythrum and silver [[?]] and Marigolds from Louise's garden - saw her - she is glad to be alive but banged up badly from her accident. Sent final check for [[? Tresh]] trip.
