January 6 

1983 - Thursday - 34° at 7AM. Breakfast after Mass. Light rain and snow. Sun 7:22 - 4:46 Pale sun by PM. Good rain overnight as bird [[strikethrough]] feeders [[/strikethrough]] baths filled - rain gauge is in. To Mass. Wes had haircut - bought birdseed. After lunch to Greenwich, picked up Tabriz rug. To Roberts looked at furniture - bought stakes, pebbles & Primula at Pinchbeck - Home to place rug in den - looks good.

1984 Friday - 36° at 6:30 - Lightly snowing. Sun 7:20 - 4:43. Became cloudy - dreary - damp - not too cold - just over 32°. Quiet day - Wes in shop - I cut out skirt, read.  Eileen phoned Texaco was making an offer of $125 for Getty stock which closed at 105, yesterday. Tried to buy 100 shares but [[strikethrough]] mast [[/strikethrough]] stock not trading. 

1985 - Sunday - 23° at 6:30 - sky clear. Sun 7:20 - 4:44. Mostly sunny day - Solar went to 68° in afternoon. To 8 o'clock Mass. Wes not feeling well - gas - thought was getting cold - maybe 24 hour bug. He didn't do the walk with me down (or up) Bogus. I worked on Rock Garden seed order - finally finished it.  After lunch we took down Christmas tree and crib - Solar looked very bare. Left outdoor decorations up and bowls of greens in living room. Enjoyed "Jewel in the Crown" on Channel 13 even if didn't understand it all. 

1986 - Monday - 27° at 6:45 - clear. Sun 722-4:41 cloudy in afternoon - high cold wind. Wes in shop. I wrote letters - did crossword. We decided to take a short walk only account cold & wind. The road was icy but we walked all the way out Ned Mountain Road to Ridgebury - George Washington - Scodon and home - didn't feel tired or stiff. 
I made pillow case for our nap pillows - did a work wash - Wes quit shop an hour early to read

1987 - Tuesday - 20° at 7:15. Clear Sun 7:20 - 4:43. Good weather day - not as clear as yesterday but mostly sunny. Did work - ironed - took our walk to top of first hill on Ned Mountain Road - left misdirected letter in Mason's mailbox (#215) Lunch - nap - took tree down and put crib away. Wes put evergreen branches on Heuchera in big rock along front walk.  
Did crossword. Made some applesauce from apples taken from Cone. 

January 7 

1983. Friday - 30° at 6:30.  Cloudy - gloomy - not too cold. To Sylvia Barry - found nothing at sale. Wes in shop - split wood. Put more suet out - lots of woodpeckers. Relocated lamp over plants in dinette corner - repotted tree ivy - put in second stake support. Day goes fast. 

1984 - Saturday - 32° at 7 AM - sleeping late these days. But putting heat and oatmeal on when first awake. Sun 7:20-4:44. Gloomy cloudy morning, snow flurries - sun out for a short while in afternoon.
House chores - wash etc. To Sylvia Barry's sale - nothing - on to Waldbaum's for bananas 2/89¢ - very crowded. Home for lunch nap - filled feeders - suet goes fast.  Wes split a little wood - taking it from lower pile. I finished reading "Nonesuch Lure" - Wes reading Berlin Game. 

1985 - Monday 30° at 6:30 - cloudy - Re above bananas now 39¢ a pound. Cloudy - gloomy all day - looked like Winter - snow reported for afternoon. 
To bank - Community Center for bus tickets for tomorrow - bird food from Youngs - they have moved to Danbury Road - liquor - Stop & Shop - to record paid $2.05 for gallon of milk. It is less at Marcus - home for our walk - extended it up Ned Mountain - lunch nap - washed, ironged. Nap - washed, ironed - Wes in shop. I did a little on the bird wall hanging - we almost finished the crossword. 

1986 - Tuesday - 22° at 6 AM - Dark - became clear.  Very cold - high 23° - windy. To Mass. To Ridgefield at 9:45 - Wes dropped me at Ballard Carriage House - Helen Corbin spoke on History of Gardens - Wes went to Reclamation. Stop & Shop - Liquor - Ridgefield Supply - no snowfencing but bought Ross netting at Youngs - came for me - We ate lunch at Big House Cafe - Copp's Hill Commons - bought blender and 3 CD's at Caldors - Home for nap - Wes in shop - I worked on magazines piled up - played the CDs. Wes had stopped at Town Hall for burning permit. 

1987 - Wednesday - 32° at 6:15 - Dark. Starting new Mass schedule - Wednesdays (in church)and Fridays at 7:30 AM. Sun 7:20 - 4:44. Mostly cloudy day - very damp in morning - improved during day. Only some regulars at Mass, so Father said future Wednesday Masses would be in Rectory. Wes had 11 AM appointment with Dr Neligan - good - had blood count - come back in 3 months -   I had a haircut - went to bank, Brunette - picked up Wes - to Stop & Shop - home for lunch - nap - took our walk going to next mailbox on Ned Mtn. Road - I finished making applesauce from cone apples.
