January 18

1983 - Tuesday - 17° at 6 AM. Sun 7 19 - 4 58
Fair cold day - not outdoor weather. To Mass. Waxed den woodwork - did part of bookcase and doors - looks good. Out only to fill feeders. Mailed vegetable orders

1984 Wednesday - 17° at 6:30. Cloudy. Sun 7 17 - 4 56 Dark gloomy morning - snow started after lunch.
Went to Bethel for birdfood and bananas - bought milk at Bethel Market to eliminate Marcus stop. 
Hobbies in afternoon. I made a Pumpkin Pie - by mistake put in Cayenne instead of cloves - dug it out! 
Out to shovel walk - rake driveway - fill bird-feeders and add more suet. About 27°  was high
Report is December was coldest on record.

1985 - Friday - 22° at 6 AM - Sunny morning, cloudy afternoon - temperature rose to 37° in afternoon.
I picked up Gizela and we went to Ballard Workshop - Annette St. Pierre giving it on starting seeds. Gizela and I spent first hour in greenhouse, watering - Went to post office - bought gas - few groceries at Grand Union 
Wes had shoveled path to shed & split wood - finished painting his tender. I removed snow from railing of deck and scraped ice where had shoveled yesterday.

1986 - Saturday - 34° at 7 AM - Beautiful sky when sun was coming up - beautiful winter day - January thaw - 57° at 2 PM.
House chores - Went over cliff to inspect after the brush burning yesterday - looks good - path very slippery in spots - took our walk to Ned Mountain top - lunch in Solar - first time in ages - nap - Wes in shop.
I sprayed kitchen plants outdoors as noticed whitefly when put them in Solar for the sun - wrote to Barclay Hotel for reservations. March 10-11 for Philadelphia Flower Show - Last episode of "Body in the Library".

1987 - Sunday - 22° at 6 AM - Dark - To 8 oclock Mass. Decided to take our walk up Ned Mountain as snow & sleet predicted. Snow started at the half point - at Sunley's mailbox - so we were glad we set out. Wes balanced checkbook - wrote to Mrs Innamarato on Sr's death - I wrote letters ordered car mats form Orvis. Coggeshalls phoned at noon and we cancelled our dinner date account The snow - made it for Feb. 8th - snow turned to sleet. We had Martini and rejoiced we didn't have to drive out -


January 19

1983 - Wednesday - 3º at 7 AM Sun 7:18 - 5 PM. Fair sunny but very cold.
Wes drove me to Hawsie Nash's for Horticulture meeting on September show - he then went to Reclamation - Stop & Shop - Caldors - bought paint brushes - Liquor - back for me at noon. In afternoon split wood - fed birds - 10º at bedtime.

1984 - Thursday - 25º at 6 AM - Still snowing - decided not to go to Mass. Sun 7:17-4:57. Wes was raking driveway when Mike came to plow it - good job - shoveled front walk - raked turnaround. We raked Varga's driveway as Tibor very busy and lost 2 men.
Rest of day hobbied. I had to cut down wool skirt as too full for material. Wes working on tender, drilling rivet holes. Watched first installment of "Reilly - Ace of Spades"

1985 - Saturday - 27º at 6 AM - Snowing lightly - about 1 1/2 inches - not the flurry predicted. Sun 7:16 - 4:58. 
House chores - to Commerce Park AVe at 11 o'clock - had hamburger in Blue Ray Diner near theater - very good Saw "Passage to India" at 12/2:45 - excellent. Home to rake and push snow from driveway - walk & Solar Roof - Report calls for bitter cold tonight, with wind.

1986 - Sunday - 43º at 6 AM. Dark - Light rain Sun 7:18-4:55 - None today - light rain all day - mild about 52º. To 8 o'clock Mass early when I remembered we hadn't checked the church flowers yesterday - they were ok - only one Poinsettia had to be removed.
Rest of day hobbies - Wes in shop - I knitted - wrote letters. Worked with plants.

1987 - Monday - 32º at 6:30. Cloudy. Sun 7:16-4:57 Celebration of Martin Luther King holiday. Snow and sleet started again mid-morning. We shoveled the walks & terrace and deck - pretty hard and couldn't get them clear account ice. Brought in new birdfeeder and had to let ice coating melt before we could fill Took our walk - to the top of Ned Mountain - about three miles. Rest of day indoor work - Wes drew the old case of ships bell clock - I copied recipes - threw some away.
