February 7

1983 - Monday - 26° at 7 AM. Snowing - high winds - Shoveled 5 inches of snow to take out car. Eileen came up at 10 o'clock - we left at 11:15 for Lock Haven - Route 84 in bad condition - 81 and 80 much better. Arrived at Bit's about 5 o'clock - Holmdens [[Holendens?]] - Pam - Neil & Clam - Gusty & Carolyn and Bridget & Sara - Skeet, John and Betsy were there - Kelly couldn't make it account snow storm. Supper and to funeral home - lots of neighbors there to pay respect to Mike - To motel at 11 pm.

1984 - Tuesday - 20° at 6:15 - Fair - Sun 7:01-5:19
Sunny, windy, cold but good for our city trip.  No Mass as went to Bonanza Bus stop on Mill Plain Road for 8:30 bus - 1 1/2 hours - went via G.W. Bridge - Jersey Turnpike and Lincoln Tunnel / Subway to Bloomingdale's - ordered Buttercup cups bought Orrefors crystal glass - to Tiffany & bought heart on chain for my birthday - lunch Trump Tower - taxi to Altmans - ordered spike candles - walked to Bus terminal - 2:15 bus home - in house 4:15.  To Ruth Sharp's at 5:15 for cocktail.

1985 - Thursday - 18° at 6:30 - About another inch of snow after all that shoveling yesterday afternoon! Sun 7:00-5:20. May see it today? Sunny morning. Solar reached 70° at lunchtime. Partly cloudy in P.M.
I worked at Greenhouse in morning - shopped enroute home. Jennings, Plumber here to check shop lavatory for change of basin. In afternoon we visited Creative Bath in Commerce Park Danbury to see vanities. Wes split wood, opened up more paths of snow - crawl space - brushed off Solar Roof.

1986 - Friday - 18° at 7 AM - Snowstorm - high wind and drifting - continued all day. Wes spent day in bed or on sofa, resting his cold and aches. I went out twice - get paper - fill bird feeders - do a little shoveling - filled in quickly in the morning. Used new rake on Solar Roof - works well.
Eileen didn't go to work - roads in bad shape.

1987 - Saturday.  32° at 6:30. Beautiful winter day - cold, sunny - no wind. Sun 7:00-5:30. To record we have had Pine Siskins at the feeders for over two weeks and noticed Red Polls this week - first time in years. Did crossword - didn't finish it. I went to Prudential Bache on Mill Plain Road, saw Alison Rowe on investing funds. Wes cleaned den - he is feeling better. Took an early walk to Allen's corner - had lunch, naps. To movie "The Mission" - Jesuits in South America - beautiful sad and thought provoking.


February 8

1983 - Tuesday - in Lock Haven - Keystone Motel. To Bit's for breakfast - cloudy early morning - cleared to sunny - cold day - windy.
Mike's funeral service at 11 AM in Moriarty's Funeral Home - to Cemetery near the college for burial service following - to Bit's for lunch - left for home at 2 pm. Sunny, thank God - Route 80 in good condition - snow plowing at Scranton - clear again after that - icy patches on Routes 81 & 84 - home at 7:15 - Eileen stayed night

1984 - Wednesday - 10° at 6 AM - Went back to bed after sending up heat! Up again at 6:45. Sun 7:00-5:21.
I picked up Helen and worked at the Greenhouse 9-12. Home for lunch. Put all bulbs into Solar as it was 70° - cold and windy outdoors. Cooked chicken.
Wes in shop. I took Sinningias from 'Jewel Box' - Wes welded handle on again. We did some tax work - sorting the donation checks.

1985 - Friday - 9° at 6:45 - Fair - Sun 6:59-5:22. Wes wants to record an excellent snow cover for plants
After house and plant chores, to Calico Corners, Route 7, bought material for diningroom table mat - to Christman's Darien, ordered English arm 76" sofa - looked at material samples - brought some home - to Ridgefield - chicken at Brunetti - left deposit on vanity for shop lavatory - home for lunch - nap - very high wind - drifting snow & flurries in afternoon - Wes finished lettering & numbering his engine - I sewed on dress - No fire account wind

1986 - Saturday - 20° at 7 AM - Cloudy - Beautiful snow scene - snow may be over - not clearing though - it did clear about 10 AM to a beautiful day. We raked the driveway shoveled the paths and Solar Roof - didn't do front walk - thats loaded with snow and ice. Mike came to plow just when Wes finished - he had evidently been here last night. Went to church to consolidate Poinsettias - threw out one. Home for lunch - nap - Bit phoned to ask how we were. Alex asked Wes to drive him to Toyota to pick up his new car - Helen is up - she had been sick all week. I put forcing bulbs in Solar for afternoon.

1987 - Sunday - 22° at 6:30 - Beautiful sunrise. Clear morning - cloudy in afternoon - snow reported for tonight. To 8 oclock Mass - had throats blessed - about a week late for any colds/coughs! Tried to figure out the cost of our Niagara Mohawk stock as we have decided to sell it for Utility Bond Fund. Had a short nap - dressed - to Stop & Shop for bananas and milk - gas at Texaco on Catoonah St. - to Le Chateau where met the Coggeshalls at 2 pm for dinner - good time - home at 4:45. Read papers - had glass milk & a banana.
