1983 - Wednesday - 37º at 6:30. Cloudy - fog - some mist.
To Roberts in Greenwich - ordered Sunshade for deck looked at love seat. To Stamford Shopping Centre - lots of shops - Wes admired trains in F.A.O. Schwartz - to Macy's - ordered blinds for shop - bought large sheet to make a tablecloth - had lunch - drove to Roberts Antiques in Scotts Corners, bought wine table and serving table. Home at 4 PM - arranged furniture - looks beautiful - put Baker chest in den - and den chest in bedroom closet

1984 - Thursday - 29º at 6:00 - clear. Sun 6 40-5 39. Beautiful morning - became lovely in afternoon - shower at night.
To Mass. Hobbies and house chores in morning. Lunch in Solar. Nap on mattress in den - we do miss that sofa. Wes split wood in afternoon - we looked for deer tracks - they nipped candytuft in wall garden. I picked up leaves - twisted knee - back to using cane - Wes did dishes and made the breakfast.

1985 - Saturday - 48º at 6 AM - cloudy - off and on sun in afternoon - mild - high 64º. House and plant chores - threw out Poinsettias. Out in afternoon - Wes brought more chips down to compost path - we went down cliff path - picking up sticks - noting deer marks - cut off blackberry branches back of compost - trimmed limb from oak near wild blueberry - too warm for our jackets - wore light sweaters only. The "February Thaw"

1986 - Sunday - 30º at 6 AM. Cloudy, deary day again. To 8 o'clock mass - I was Lector. To Marcus for milk & butter - big holes in road by Mall. Read papers - cooked chicken for dinner in mid-day. Nap. Steamed knitted sweater - armholes too gaping - will have to take to Needles for help. Alex and Helen picked us up at 6:20 - to Fred and Josephine Robinsons - from there to St. Peter's for Munich Passion Play on the Mass - back to Robinson's for drink, dessert and coffee - home at 11. Met Regina and Hugh Morgan at Robinsons. 

1987 - Monday. 31º at 6:30 and snowing - 3 to 5 inches forecast. Sun 6:40-5:40 - about 3 inches of snow. Wes raked the driveway - I cleared the terrace, deck and solar roof. Mike Mannion brought over a pipe for Wes to cut. Frank Tracy picked up the Topiary Cat I was minding for Anne while they were in Florida. Cleared about noon to a mild 46º degrees - sun came out, snow started to melt from roof and driveway. We went to post office - bank - Marcus - Wes bought brass screws at Sears - not a good hardware store. Washed car on return.

February 24

1983 - Thursday - 31º at 6:30 - clear morning - clouded up mid-afternoon. No Mass as Father on ski trip with teenagers.
Transplanted Aloe Vera - terrible messy job - had to throw out a lot of it - also replaced sod in Jewel Box Siningia of Gizela's. Wes in shop. Lou Krawchick phoned re our taxes. Out to split wood (Wes) fill feeders and suet - clean up terrace of sunflower shells using vacuum. Day goes past - not much accomplished.

1984 - Friday - 45º at 7 AM - cloudy - all day - mild 
I rested my knee - read all the newspapers 
Tempanelli's phoned - they had been to Hartford show - Ridgefield G.C. members took 5 firsts - one second - passed on information to Hawsie Nash.
Wes had luck in shop - put on back plate for coal bin.

1985 - Sunday - 48º at 6 AM - Beautiful sunrise Sun 6:37-5:41. Mild day - hazy sun - Don't know high temperature as we were away in afternoon, but it was 64º at 5 pm. To 8 o'clock Mass. Hobbies in morning - early lunch & short nap. To Bedford at 1:15 to see "Amadeus". Enjoyed it and loved the music and scenes - noticed all the new houses along Route 121 & 22. 11th episode of "Jewel in the Crown" on Channel 13 at 9 pm. 

1986 - Monday - 24º at 6 AM - Watched 17 deer cross the Pond and go into opposite hill. Sun 6:40-5:39 - not a bad day - cloudy early but sun came out at 10 o'clock - Wes split wood. I worked with plants - forced daffodils have one bud opening. Took our two-mile walk first time in ages. Lunch - nap - washed hair - sat in Solar in sun to dry it and finish Sunday papers. Wes in shop. 
Joan phoned - Hooker's fever broke - he feels better. Eileen had called in morning reporting on her call to Joan yesterday that Hooker had 103 fever - unknown cause.

1987 - Tuesday - 27º at 6:45 - Good to sleep late. Fair. Beautiful winter day - breezu - but sun warm - not as mild as yesterday. Did wash - ironed. Prepared bulb pots for Greenwich show. Wes hung clock in lavatory - needs to get more brass screws to improve looks of wood barking. He balanced checkbook - a long job but finally found the difference with the bank. We did crossword - took until night to finish it.
