March 12

1983 - Saturday - 35° at 7 AM - snow flurries - high winds all day - then rains and snow - at bedtime snow covered ground - its been a bad stretch of weather. 
Indoor day for me - Wes went out to fill the feeders and split wood - we were almost out.  I made rice pudding - good - and lady fingers - not worth it. Tax reports received from Krawcheck - we owe almost $8,000 in April.

1984 - Monday - at Captiva Island - Sunny day thunderstorm in evening. Ate our breakfast on porch. To J.N. "Ding" Darling Nature Refuge on Sanibel Island. Slide presentation - 5 mile drive through refuge - lots of Herons - Ducks - Roseate Spoonbills - Egrets - etc. and two alligators - Stopped at mini-market for milk and bread. At villa for lunch and nap - walked back - to Chadwicks for dinner - Grouper - good salad - 3 "named" waiters.  
Read - late to bed.

1985 - Tuesday - 49° at 6 AM - Raining - Continued most of morning - didn't put the rain gauge out until noon, so don't know the total but welcome. Saw the other day that the reservoirs are way down. To Mass.  Shopped Stop & Shop - Bank - Hardware. Wes took pants to cleaner. Home for lunch - nap. I cleaned livingroom. Wes in shop. Made muffins for brunch tomorrow and chicken for salad. Blue Ageratum seeds appeared - put them and the Calendula under lights in garage. Did crossword puzzles. 

1986 - Wednesday - Philadelphia - Breakfast at The Barclay - [[strikethrough]] Walked to Visitor Information Centre 3rd Street & Walnut [[/strikethrough]] Left about 9 o'clock - came over Verrazano Bridge to attend Irene Cohalan's wake in Garden City - arrived there at noon - a good ride in beautiful weather - lunch at coffee shop after locating Fairchilds Funeral Home - Shopped Lord & Taylor to spend time before 2 o'clock - saw Pat & Bob Cunningham - son Bob - daughter Judy - Stephen & Helen Loughman - Stephen & Irene's sister Helen. Left about 3:15 - good quick trip to Throggs Neck Bridge via Long Island Xway. Home at 5:15.

1987 - Thursday 26° at 4 AM - cloudy - had a slight dusting of snow. Showers started again in morning - continued - heavier at 2 pm and sticking. Winter is back! To bank and Waldbaums. House chores and hobbies. Birds eating a lot - Cardinal in new feeder. 


March 13 

1983 - Sunday - 34° at 6:30. Cloudy, snow on ground about 1/2 inch - melted after sun broke through and became a lovely day. Cool breeze - lunch on Solar.  
To 8 o'clock Mass. Father Mike Mas who will give a mission this week. 
Shop work - watered plants - split wood - I went over cliff to look for Hepaticas - too soon to move - brought up moss. To 7:30 service at church - home at 9 pm to watch "On Appoval" Channel 13 - Penelope Keith.

1984 - Tuesday - at Captiva Island.  Beautiful day after storm last night.  
Took tram to north end of island - Boat "Teresa Ann" cruise to Useppa Island to the North - Shell mounds made by Indians gave elevation of 38 feet - former estate of Baron G. Collier - lunch at Tarpon Bar there - back at 3:15 - tram again - watched golfers - have to be accurate on that course. Soup for dinner read. 

1985 - Wednesday - 39° at 6:30. Partly cloudy - windy. Light rain late in evening. Cleaned house - made lunch for Eileen & Bit, here at 11:30 with Boo. We'll mind her while they are in Italy. Sunny while they were here, so we had a drink in Solar. Took walk with Boo. They left at 3 pm. We walked Boo again after a nap. She watched for animals - barked twice

1986 - Thursday - 35° at 6 AM - Drizzle - Home from Philadelphia. Light rain most of day - we were lucky on our trip. Took Jasmine to Tempanelli's - (we minded it while they were in Florida) to bank - made copy of IRS letter on my 1983 report - to Dr. Yanity - Janet cleaned our teeth - to Stop & Shop & home for lunch - nap. I worked on 1983 tax to send to Krawchick. Wes brought in wood - very wet - worked on crossword puzzle. Phoned Mary - She had gone yesterday to Irene's wake & funeral today - home safely. 

1987 - Friday 32° at 6 AM - About an inch of snow - report is for flurries to continue all day. Disappointing. No flurries, but cold and dreary - not a walking day. Cleared at sunset. I wrote to Joan, Bit and Kelly. To Backus Post Office to make copies of doctor bills requested by Metropolitan Life - Lunch - nap. Cut out blue cotton big shirt - a long job. Wes continued scaling down the the locomotive plan.
