March 30

1983 - Wednesday - 23° at 6:30 - Clear - Sun up.  Beautiful day - very cool
Wes went to Meekers to buy soldering iron
Stevenson Lumber delivered door for Kitchen hall
Jerry Keller came to look at our vegetable beds - Ann Tracy wants her to copy ours when she makes theirs
I painted the hydrant shed at North side and raked leaves from wood knoll (lots!)  Wes split wood.

1984 - Friday - 32° at 7 AM - Cloudy - More snow overnight - heavy and wet - Wes shoveled the path again - later we cleaned off two tracks in driveway as we almost couldn't get to garage on returning from Bethel with bird food.  Did a wash - started mending Irish wool shirt, redoing hem and taking in seam!  Wes worked in shop.
About a foot of snow in all.

1985 - Saturday - 46° at 6:15 - Light shower - hardly measurable, in morning - cleared afternoon.  Wes in shop.  I worked with plants - typed names of Wes high school class for back of picture.  At noon we went to McTaon Hall Bishop Center addressed a seminar on church organization role of laity, etc. - home at 2 pm - I trimmed hemlock at north woodpile and big one at azalea level over cliff.  Transplanted crocus from Lumber Pine area to Garden from rhododendron and rock at entrance to driveway.  Wes dug hole for proposed pool - Unfortunately a ledge at one end.

1986 - Easter Sunday - 44° at 6 AM - Sunny, warm, breezy - opened windows - doors and skylight.
To 8 o'clock Mass.  Crowded - lots of noisy children.  Made preparations for dinner.  Wes took out insulation from kitchen fan.  Eileen and Mary here at noon - left at 5 pm.  Pleasant afternoon.  Eileen & I walked Boo up Ned Mountain before they left.  Took at nap - cleaned up - read papers

1987 - Monday - 46° at 6 AM - Cloudy - rain started at 6 pm - need it.  I worked at Ballard Greenhouse in morning, shopping Stop & Shop enroute and bank and Brunette following.  Wes pulled out the big dead laurel and moved one from Shed corner to its place.  After lunch & nap, moved a second one to spot along path to Piping Boy where he took out a lot of [[strikethrough]] Leathered [[/strikethrough]] Maple leaf Viburnum - hit a big rock, but believe enough room for the Laurel.  I uncovered the Santolina along cliff path - made meat loaf.


March 31

1983 - Holy Thursday - 28° at 6 AM - Cloudy.  Not the best day but not the wet snow predicted for the evening either.
To Tarrytown at 8:30 to pick up Kelly who had spent couple days with Eileen - to NYBG (main gate closed) walked thru Conservatory - to Snuff Mill for lunch - walked Rock Garden and native plant area - to Shop.  Kelly bought a lot of things - on to Tarrytown - Kelly left for home and so did we at 3:15 - nap - dinner - to 8 o'clock service.  Joan phoned Eileen last night.  She is retiring.

1984 - Saturday - 34° at 6:30 - Cloudy - disappointed as report was for clearing - would love to see the sun come out at 9 AM!  Good.  Beautiful day.  Left at 9 AM for Marcus (paper) on to Pleasantville for 10:30 service at Beecher's for Mary Sells.  The Corkels invited us in for sandwiches after - Mary F. there also & Olmsteads (Duncan)  Home for nap - then out to shovel snow from paths - deck - piles from driveway - high 48° and melting.  Took walk up Sophia.  Wes split wood.  Deer ate more Leatherleaf Viburnum

1985 - Sunday - 38° at 6 AM - Cloudy - light rain a good part of day - cold - 40 in rain gauge P.M.
To 8 o'clock Mass.  Wes cleaned up desk.  I checked the tax reports.  Wes cleaned den - we had a Martini there as too cold in Solar.  Planted Oak Leaf Lettuce.  Mended the tweed skirt.  Quiet day - goes fast.  Phoned Bet & Eileen - their colds are better.

1986 - Easter Monday - 54° at 6 AM.  Fair beautiful day, breezy and not as warm as yesterday.
House chores - plants - Wes had shop time - then we went to Danbury Union Trust - put certificates in Safe Deposit - to Waldbaums - to Ace Hardware - to Record World where we bought 4 CD's, using Sony $2.00 off coupons, as this is the last day they are useable.  Home for lunch & nap.  
Transplanted Miniature Roses into 4" pots - planted flower and Herb seeds in indoor trays - planted onions and lettuce in outdoor bin - Good day.  Colds a bit better.

1987 - Tuesday - 54° at 6:45 - Raining - very high wind - heavy rain at times - ended mid-afternoon.  Did wash - out for shopping rounds - almost turned back as rain was so heavy and roads awash.
No 30" plant lights available - a hard size to come by.
Friendly Plumber for Kitchen faucet repair parts - Meekers for broom - pail - Malathion - to Record World for casettes and CD's - home for lunch.  Playing Nutcracker enroute.  In afternoon Wes worked on locomotive plan I made buttonholes in big shirt.
