April 3

1983 - Easter Sunday - 38° at 6:30 - Raining - heavy at times in morning - luckily let up some when Eileen and Mary arrived at noon.  Rain came in kitchen slider.  To 8 o'clock Mass - Crowded.
Had pleasant afternoon with girls - Wes kept a warm fire going.  Eileen gave us Godiva chocolates she received from  Ravera.  We took Boo for a walk - picked up small piece of round moss

1984 - Tuesday - 31° at 6 AM - Fair, beautiful day.  I went to Mass - Wes waited for Wright Tree men who only worked half day with one man - other pulled tendon in [[?Lon]]  
I worked at Ballard in morning.  Wes started on stone wall south side of deck steps - I cleaned up flower beds.  After dinner Gizella phoned we had a fire in chimney.  We called fire department - here quickly about 7:15 - 3 pieces of equipment - lots of men and onlookers - ripped cover from chimney - only water damage in shop - left about 8:30.  Nancy Carroll came to ask us to her house - Called Mike and Hoffman.

1985 - Wednesday
32° at 6 AM - Sun coming up - turned cloudy and rained lightly - hardly measurable.
Left at 8 AM for Purdy's - Wes left car along road as no room in paid parking - took 8:42 train - 1 hour 10 minutes to Grand Central - subway to Dr Espy - Wes' pressure good - my eyes OK - walked to MMA - had lunch went through Caravaggio Show - bus to 42 Street - 2:48 train to Purdy's - home before 5 pm - drink - soup for supper.

1986 - Thursday - 38° at 6 AM - Sun coming up - a beautiful sunny day - cooler.  To Mass.  Wes in shop.  I transplanted the ornamental grass (Garden Club project), threw out most of the Primulas raised for the N.Y. Flower Show.  Some of seeds planted Monday (Zinnias - Marigold - Ageratum) coming up - put them under lights.  After lunch we worked outdoors - Wes dug another hole on North Slope for future laurel - we took Ross netting from East steps - I cleaned that area - little rock plants generally good condition.  Planted forced Narcissus on Wood Knoll.  Wes to last Camera class.

1987 - Friday - 40° at 6 AM - cloudy - turned into a fair day - unexpected.  To Mass.  Packed and got ready for trip to Framingham - left at 10:20 - nice trip up - leisurely picnic lunch on Mass Pike.  Located Keefe Technical High School where program to be held - decided to spend night at Framingham Motor Lodge - turned out to be a rundown place - door didn't lock! - no eating facilities - dinner at Finally Michaels, good but expensive - restless night - noises from travelers arriving at motel.


April 4

1983 - Easter Monday - 39° at 6:30.  Cloudy - Saw Red Bellied Woodpecker on the suet at breakfast time.
Measured Ballard Garden - bought more Halts Plus at Pinchbeck - had copies made at PDQ of Ivy Wreath Instructions - deposit at bank.  Stop & Shop.
After lunch and nap - Wes spread Halts and split wood - separated small Taxas in holding bed - transplanted Red Pine & Small Spruce to Wood Knoll - Star of Bethlehem to Bog Path - Bleeding Hearts to Shade Garden.

1984 - Wednesday - 34° at 6:30.  Drizzling - light rains about 10 AM - just after Mike Mannion & brother bob fixed plastic on chimney - Fire Marshall France Moylan consulted with them - Hoffman came to check burner - OK - gave it the annual cleaning - reporter came to take pictures.  Before lunch I went to Marcus for milk & eggs.  Hoffman's Al Tracy gave us names of chimney cleaner and heating engineer - he left at noon.  Long nap - heavier rain late afternoon & night.
Saw Pine Siskins at feeder.  Carnall Insurance contacted.

1985 - Thursday - 36° at 6 AM - Fair cool day, breezy.  Wes took car to Honda for 60,000 checkup (actually 58,500) rented Escort as didn't pick up our car until 4 pm.
Edith Miffley picked me up & we went to Bartlett to look at Dwarf Conifer Garden for the Memorial Garden plan - home at 1 pm for lunch.  Warren Mackin had taken grandmother block works for repair - nothing can be done for Grandfather.  Outside after nap, transplanted lettuce into raised beds.  Cleaned up strawberry bed - Wes dug around big wild blueberry preparatory to moving it.  To St Peters for 7:30 service.

1986 - Friday - 38° at 6 AM and cloudy - Plant & House chores.  Packed.  Mail hand't come at 11:30 so we left for Waltham, Mass. - Routes 84 to Mass Pike to 95/128 Exit 48, Waltham - Best Western East Motel close to Exit.  Adequate room.  Located Bentley College - dinner in hotel very good.

1987 - Saturday - Cloudy morning - awake early in Framingham Motor Lodge (don't go there again!)  Breakfast at Friendlys - to Wildflower Symposium at 8:30 - good speakers - break for coffee and book sales & lunch - bought 3 books and 4 Bloodroot - program over at 3 pm - decided not to stay over - drove home - Wes driving all the way - in horrendous rain - saw accident above Hartford - Backus Avenue at the Post Office - Wooster School flooded - luckily our car didn't stall - many others did - came home via Route 84 to Ridgebury Road - no damage here - Judsons driveway washed out.  Glad to be home safely.
