October 24

1983 - Monday - 44° degrees at 7AM - Raining - There was 2 inches in gauge at 9:30 - only sprinkles after that cool - breezy - cloudy day.  Shopping - Meekers - Ace - Agway for birdseed - Waldbaum's and Marcus.  After lunch put up wire on south side to hang bird feeders there - squirrels and raccoon taking seed off deck.  Pulled up tomato plants - marigolds - ageratum - really dead in frost.  Alex Ross returned tools - brought cake for our dessert.

1984 - Wednesday - 49 degrees at 7AM - Slept late.  Cloudy.  15/100 inch in gauge.  Mostly cloudy day.  We worked on the leaves in the afternoon - blowing and raking.  Wes had shop hour in morning - I cleaned upstairs preparing for Jule Lane's visit tomorrow.  Put some summer clothes away.
First day we didn't have lunch in the Solar - cloudy and damp all day.

1985 - Thursday - 40° at 6AM - After early fog cleared to a beautiful fall day - clouded up late afternoon and a few sprinkles - need rain
To Mass.  I went to Ballard Garden to work - Lillian Willis and Carol Stoddard joined - to bank - Stop & Shop & Liquor before going home.  Wes had sent back to supplier sets of parrell [[parrelles]] via UPS - put leaf chipper down in dell and got rid of pile of leaves there - we blew and raked in afternoon and he did some more.  Lots of leaves down.

1986 - Friday - 46° at 7:15 - Partly cloudy - became a beautiful fall day - cool.  Wes started blowing leaves from south side and cliff - stalled so took it to Youngs while I shopped and bought birthday balloons for Alex's party Sunday.  After lunch Wes continued blowing and raking - I put frosted plants on compost - watered new grass area - not appearing yet.  To Rosses at 6:45 where Bob Morris picked us up for dinner with them - Mother Regina - children Rob, Kate, Kara - Tim and baby Kieran - Margaret & Rick - Regina's sister and brother-in-law

1987 - Saturday - 37° at 7AM - Clear - beautiful day - milder.
Wes went for another gallon of paint and we finished painting the fence!  An accomplishment and it looks good to us.  Now have to get heavier wire for it.  Put some of brush from inside fence in bag to roadside.  Have a lot to cut between the fence and Judson's.
Petey Cerf phoned from Kansas again - now will donate $15,000 to Ballard Park!


October 25

1983 - Tuesday - 41° at 6AM - Dark - no Mass as I picked up Helen at 7:50 - to Aldrich Museum Parking lot where RGC took bus to NYC - the GCA headquarters for our meeting and lunch.  Then we went to Tiffany's where I left credit application and Visa information for Brooklyn Bridge Box - we walked to Trump Tower and IBM Bldg - it was a mostly fair day.  Home at 5:30.  Wes had worked in shop & took a walk.  Man who was to wrap pipes was delayed - made appointment for Nov. 9th.  US invaded Grenada!

1984 - Thursday - 43° at 6:30.  Beautiful sunny fall day.  To Mass.  Wes had a haircut.  I shopped Waldbaum's - then I went to Ridgefield to deposit proceeds of Money Market Moseley Hallgarten account ($1451.00) in Ridgefield Savings Bank Money Market - to simplify our accounts.  Lunch - nap - Wes blew leaves from front walk & driveway. Jule arrived about 3pm - visited Gizella - had drink with us & then took us to Red Lion for dinner - Home at 9:30 - (Had cut flowers from Louise McKeon's garden)

1985 - Friday - 62° at 7AM - Dark.  Became a beautiful day - very breezy.  Only 1/8 inch of rain from last evening. 
Wes blew more leaves - morning and afternoon. 
I went to Waldbaum's - Marcus - bank - the new road there makes entrance easier.  To McKeon's to pick chrysanthemums for church - washed hair.  To Sobol's at 7pm dinner party very enjoyable.  Home at 11 pm.

1986 - Saturday - 34° at 7:30.  Fair morning and most of afternoon - clouds in evening.
I went down Route 7 for a pumpkin - shopped Ancona for Halloween decorations - picked up cake at Taste of Paris - cheese and pate at cheese shop - chrysanthemums at Pinchbeck's.  Wes blew leaves morning and afternoon - cleaned north side.  Alex came by with the bridge chairs and table we are borrowing for tomorrow.  I cooked casserole (Ham - Chicken - Mushroom) in afternoon.  We cleaned living room and arranged furniture.

1987 - Sunday - 48° at 6AM - Standard Time - good to have it light at breakfast.  
To 8 o'clock Mass.  Wes cut up big limb which just missed large rhododendron rear of garden room Downed in high wind.  I washed car.  We raked leaves in courtyard and front walk - Wes cleaned off deck.  Loads of leaves down.  Picked up Billie at noon - she took us to Brunch at The Inn - Punkie Scott also - Home at 3:30 - nap - read papers.
