November 3

1983 - Thursday - 50° at 6 AM - Cloudy- some light rain and fog - rain shower in evening.  .05 only at 4 PM.  .40 in gauge in morning of Friday. 
To Mass. Louise McKeon picked up 2 of the standard Chrysanthemums to use in church. We went to bank - turned in 6 months certificate - gave $15,000 to Moseley Hillgarden for investment in Conn Bonds. To Dr. Wiedel for 1:15 appointment - Wes sat in car as lot was filled - Stopped at Rosedale enroute home for 7" deep bulb pans - Home at 4 for nap.

1984 - Saturday - 32° at 6:30 - Beautiful day - we didn't have frost but reported of it all around. 
To Brunetti - bank - Reclamation - Stop & Shop - Liquor - left bulbs at Ruth Sharp's and magazines at Tracys.  I made carrot soup for tomorrow and a microwave cake. After lunch I raked and picked leaves from wall garden area - We shredded a big pile of leaves - Went fast with two of us working. 
To Billie Newells at 5PM for a cocktail party - Neighbors and Hugo Bell there - also Ruth Sharp everyone was glad to see.

1985 - Sunday - 42° at 6:30. Partly cloudy. Cloudy and damp all day. To 8 o'clock Mass. 
Desk work by Wes. I read some papers. Out to rake leaves. Wes brought down the leaf chipper to the south side and got rid of big pile of leaves there. He raked the South lawn. I dug all the peat we had into the shade garden. Took two potted plants from that area to holding bed - one may be a primula, hope the other is a White bleeding heart. Boo ate for first time in three days - hope she makes it.

1986 - Monday - 32° at 6:30. Fair morning - partly cloudy in afternoon. Wes cut down small trees on cliff, east of garden room. George Ventris changed third window in Sewing Room. I watered and deadheaded Mary Luke's plants.  Went to bank in Danbury to take Conn. Housing Bond from safe deposit box - mailed it registered to Conn. National Bank Hartford.  Left for Eileen's at 10:30 - Saw Boo and Snowflake - Eileen gave us lunch - to Dr Howanitz at 2 pm - she froze by Nitrogen spots on my face - home at 4 pm.

1987 - Tuesday - Election Day - 49° at 6 AM.  Partly cloudy but not a bad day.  Voted at 7:30.  I went to Pinchbeck's - met with John Pinchbeck - Torrey Cooke, Muriel Pederson - Oil Ruggles on trees in Ballard Park - draft of letter to Mrs Cerf on her donation.  Wes continued working on front deer fence.  I planted 2nd pot of grape Hyacinths Botryoides - put in refrigerator.  McClure & Zimmerman delivered Allium - planted some in wall garden - some at front gate.  Cut grass to blow leaves.

November 4

1983 - Friday - 40° at 6 AM - Clear, mostly - cold wind.  House chores.  I made a Rum Cake for Tuesday.  Took a brisk walk to Allen corner before lunch.
Cut grass to blow leaves.  Wes staked oak tree in dell we had tied up.  Took nap in sun in den.
Phoned Dr Baer's office would not be returning there - made appointment on 18th for Dr Neligan - also with Dr Yanity on 17th.

1984 - Sunday - 31° at 6 AM - Cloudy - Sunny mid morning to mid afternoon - cloudy again at night
To 8 o'clock Mass.  Prepared house and dinner for visit of Mary and cousin John Millar here 12-4.  John has been with Mary last couple days - goes to Pennsylvania tomorrow - then home to California.
We cleaned up - took a nap - had fruit and cheese for supper.  Enjoyed "Barchester Chronicles" on TV.

1985 - Monday - 44° at 6:30.  Had mist overnight - hope for rain - light rain late in day and high winds.
I went to town - bought envelopes to mail October group pictures to Joan & Eileen - Stopped at Greenhouse to leave list of Rock Garden plants with Chris Clark - few groceries from Gran Central.  Wes worked in shop.  Drill press motor broke.  To 11 o'clock funeral for Bill Dore - seven priests on altar.  I mended two long skirts - Wes back in shop after lunch.  Early dinner as went to 7:30 pm Mass with piano recital for Dr. Seeber following.

1986 - Tuesday - 42° at 6 AM - Mostly cloudy day.  To Mass.  Voted.  House chores.  Made sandwich for Wes - I went to Bollie Hoffman's for luncheon - to meet Lucy Bowie - went to bank - bought soil at Greenhouse - groceries at Gran Central - home at 4 pm.  Wes had blown leaves from South side - Still a lot up there on oak trees.

1987 - Wednesday - 50° at 6 AM.  Beautiful warm day - up to 70°.  Opened livingroom door - put back screen - and turned fan on to warm up North side of house.
Wes went for more spray paint - 2 more electrical conduits delivered (thru Howard Castle)  Wes continued work on deer fence.  I wrote letters - paid bills, raked leaves - cut Siberian Iris in Bog Wall - cleaned out Japanese Maple leaves in Wall Garden.  Worked without sweaters.
Stock market fell 18 points.
We had gone to Morning Mass.
