November 7

1983. Monday - 37° at 6 AM - Clear.  Sun 6:35 - 4:47.
To Ballard Greenhouse - met some of ladies planting Muscari Armeniacum - left pots and made calls to rest -  [[?Juli]] Patterson had bought the bulbs - shopped Brunetti - Grand Central - bank - Home for lunch.  Wes went to Ace - gasoline - druggist with drug form - had copies of it made - Agway for corn.  Cooked for tomorrow's dinner - Took our mile walk. 

1984 - Wednesday - 34° at 6 AM - Fair - Reagan reelected.  Ratchford lost Congressional seat. 
I shopped Waldbaums - needed milk - bought a "Squirrel Foot" Fern there. 
Outside to pick up sawdust on Wood Knoll - from the big beech taken down - cleaned up that area of leaves.  After lunch Wes blew leaves from shade garden over wall - we raked them to lower side of bog garden - fitted some stones in drainage ditch.  Started putting tax figures together - have to send them to Krawchick before December. 

1985 - Thursday - 43° at 7 AM - Cloudy - No Mass as Father in Washington - Cleared at 10 to a beautiful day - quite mild - Washed tablecloth & napkins - Wes in shop.  We raked leaves from driveway and south side - lots of them still to rake - To town - Wes had appointment at 3:15 with Dr. Neligan - blood pressure 150/190 - to Reclamation.  I stopped at "Needles" - arranged to go tomorrow at 1 pm for knitting lesson. 

1986 - Friday - 40° at 7 AM - Cloudy and damp November weather.  Wes continued putting boards on hayloft floor - luckily weather is neither too cold or too hot.  I watered plants at Mary Luke's - then picked up my watch at Craig's - shopped Brunetti which will close after Thanksgiving.  Wes and I went to Danbury Fair Mall - walked about - had a hot dog for lunch and cookies - Home for a nap.  I did a wash - cut down last of perennials in front garden - raked a few leaves. 

1987 - Saturday - 34° at 6:30.  Partly cloudy - not a bad day - windy - cold.
Did a wash - finished hanging chain link fence.  Will have to move upper end, north as now it overlaps in middle.  Removed chicken wire from South side of entrance - filled feeder - picked up many sticks blown down in wind -  made Tavern Bars.  Mailed Ridgefield Press article on Ballard Trees to Mrs Cerf. 

November 8

1983 - Tuesday - 38° at 6 AM - up early to vote before Mass.  Beautiful day - mild in midday.
Volt Energy man wrapped more pipes in crawl space, Still has some to go - seems to be helping hot water in kitchen - Cleaned house - prepared for Vargas and Jule Lane - Castles - here at 5:30/9:30. 
Put rain barrel under deck - planted "Blue Spike Muscari" on Wood Knoll and Dell Walk.

1984 - Thursday - 26° at 6 AM - Clear - Beautiful fall day - not over 45° but sunny - jackets needed.
I continued work on tax figures after Mass.  Wes worked in shop.
In the afternoon I emptied the rain barrels - put the water on our season's transplants - put the sprinkler on the Wood Knoll - mostly to run the well down before shutting off for the winter - we shredded leaves near shed - have a big pile there now - rolled logs from hill near big north rock to improve view - put a lichen stone in wall garden.

1985 - Friday - 42° at 6:45 - Clear - Beautiful day.  Brisk breeze and cold - needed jackets to work.
Did ironing - Wes rearranged books on shelves in den - spreading the shelves - looks better.  I went to "Needles" for a knitting lesson at one o'clock - back at three.  Wes was raking leaves on South side - I joined him.  Cut grass - Wes carried large accumulations on North side to Shed area - building up more piles for chipping.  
Boo is a little better, but not out of the woods yet - lots of lumps (infection) on body.

1986 - Saturday.  50° at 6:45.  Raining - 
Cooked stew, chicken & pork chops for the week.  To Retreat for Parish Ministeries at 9:30 - home for lunch with Wes at 12:15/2 PM then back to church until 4:15.  Wes continued with covering Hayloft floor with plywood.
9/10 inch rain for last night & today.

1987 - Sunday - 35° at 6:15 - Cloudy - partly sunny - smokey from great fires in south.
To 8 o'clock Mass - did wash - Wes balanced check book - paid contributions - To The Inn at 12:30 for a luncheon for Alex' birthday - Helen - Billie - Mary Luke - (Sattlers in London) good party, home at 3:45 after a stop for groceries - almost hit by a crazy driver at New Street as he passed us on the right!  Scary.
Nap - read papers - soup for supper.
