December 15

1983 - Thursday - 50° at 6 AM - Dark - Rain - Sun 7:14 - 4:29 - didn't see it.  To Mass. 
I ordered Fresh Pork at Brunetti for Christmas - bought books at Book Plus - looked for religious Christmas cards - no luck - bought apples at Stop & Shop for the cone - and red Christmas tree balls at Caldors for table decorations.
Eileen came to have lunch with us - brought white poinsettas - she had to go to Roberts - we took car to Emissions Test - passed on second try - to bank and home.  Eileen took picture of Wes' engines.

1984 - Saturday - 32° at 6:45 - Ice cover on Solar roof - 40° in there - evidently light overnight showers.
Wes to town to buy 8 more posts for deer fencing
I made cookies - lots - We cut board for the bedroom window drapery - I stained it - waxed desk - Phoned Kelly and Bit to thank for the pecans and wreath - both well:  Planted Garden Club paperwhites.  To Tracy's at 5:30 for cocktail party - going via Old Mill Road to see the lights of our Christmas tree.  Saw had left livingroom lights on.

1985 - Sunday - 22° at 7 AM - Fair - Electricity had come back on at 3:15 AM - off about 6 hours - Glad to have a hot breakfast.  Washed hair - dressed
Left at 10:30 for St. Leo's Church, Stamford - Mass at 11:30 - Father Tighe gave us tour of renovated church - Rosses - McKeons - Sattlers - Mary Luke - Hartcorns - then we were his guests for luncheon at the Rectory - beautiful food - too plentiful - home at 5 pm.  Read papers - saw third episode of "Bleak House".

1986 - Monday 22° at 7 AM - Fair - good winter day - off and on sun and clouds - temperature rose to 38° in afternoon.  Did wash - ironed.  Car had a flat right front tire - a nail - Wes changed it.  To bank, Waldbaums - left tire for repair - did it on the spot - Christmas tree & sprays at Sticks - home for lunch - Knapp Tree Co. trimmed trees along road.  Set up tree - put lights on it - set up crib - Wes put repaired tire back on car.

1987 - Tuesday - 32° at 7 AM - Cloudy - snow flurries - hail - rain - temperature rose to 44° in afternoon.  An indoor day although we did take our walk before lunch - slippery on hills
Wes balanced books - Mobil check read by bank at 74 instead of 18.  I recopied list of articles in Safe Deposit Box
Wes sold the Homelite Saw to mark of Warner Plumbing
High wind and rain in evening


December 16

1983 - Friday 38° at 6AM - Beautiful winter day - seems like the first time in weeks the sun was out.
To Bethel Market (no suet) stationery store - Booklet, Agway for bird food - King Lumber for staples for Wes' staple guns.  I made the apple cone - set up Crib figures on table in Solar - sprayed plants - did wash.  To Tracy's at 5 pm for cocktail party - lots of people - took Billie home - her phone disconnected - police came on her granddaughter's request.

1984 - Sunday
34 degrees at 6:30 - dark - Another gloomy, damp day, but not freezing. 
To 8 o'clock Mass.  Prepared for Eileen's visit - here with Boo at 11:30/2:30 - She brought Poinsettias, bread, grey blouse for me and hand cream for Wes cracked fingers.  We took a long nap before going to Rosses for a Cocktail party at 5 - Home at 7 - Saw first part of "Jewel in the Crown".

1985 - Monday - 27° at 7 AM - Partly cloudy - cleared to a fair cold winter day. 
Cut a piece of Christmas tree trunk - fitted it to the stand - brought it to Solar - watered it - stuck in branches at top to improve shape - put lights on.
I went to Ridgefield - Brunetti to order smoked ham for Christmas, bought suet there, at Gran Central and at Stop & Shop - birds had cleaned us out - Gizella brought us a couple pieces also at my request.  Stayed up to 11 to watch 2 hours of "My Cousin Rachel" missed in blackout.

1986 - Tuesday - 35° at 6 AM.  Dark.  Mostly cloudy and damp.  To Mass.  Wright Brothers here to cut storm damage - Also took down 2 beech near well - chipped brush.  We drove to Tarrytown - picked up 3 African Violets - 2 Streptocarpus 2 Cyclamen - 2 miniature roses - 3 Poinsettias from Eileens - patted Boo and Snow - to White Plains Button Shop - no luck on Wes suit button
A&T store - to Sassafras where Mary took us to lunch - home at 3 pm - nap - Honda advised we pick up new car Friday.

1987 - Wednesday - 35° at 6 AM.  Fair  Sun 7:30-4:29.  Good winter day - cold and windy.  To Mass.
To Ridgefield for gasoline - Brunetti to order beef fillet for Christmas - Cheese Shop to order cheese box for Rosses - Hardware Store - material to make crib light - Stop & Shop - battery nodes from Ciuccoli - had Emissions test done, bought Jessy & Norman's "Christmastide" and Kiri te Kanawa "Messiah" - to Prudential Bache to sign contract for Pilgrim Index Rate Annuity - Board for upper gate delivered finally by Stevenson Lumber at 6:30 pm.
