December 17

1983 - Saturday - 28° at 9AM - Slept late - Partly cloudy - cleared to a sunny cold day, Sun 7:15 - 4:30.
House chores.  Cut small trees and brush along new road to Grouse's, as road crew left a mess on our side - there are big rocks and moss and ferns so it could look beautiful.  Lunch in Solar at 70°.  To movie "To Be or Not to Be" - Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft, at North St. Theatre - Funny - no immitation Christmas tree at Pennys.

1984 - Monday - 42° at 7AM - good sleeping late.  Sun 4:15 - 4:30 - cleared at 11:30 to a beautiful day - over 50°. 
I went for hair cut after house chores - ordered meat for Christmas dinner from Brunetti's. 
Wes finished putting up deer fence on Wood Knoll.  I put Ross' netting around Taxus - swept side terrace - cut dead branch from Hemlock over cliff.  Wes brought up wood for evening fire.  Saw a number of Robins.

1985 - Tuesday - 27° at 6AM - Dusting  of snow overnight - Fair winter day - cold but good sun - Solar at 60° in afternoon.  To Mass. 
Took car for Emissions test - passed first time - To Lexington Gardens - bought plant trays - baskets for spathiphyllum -  miscellaneous supplies - to bank for crisp bills for gifts.  Marcus for milk - home for lunch - nap - hung cone wreath in Solar - fixed greens around base of tree - made 2 sprays for garage lamps.

1986 - Wednesday - 36° at 7:30 - Slept late - Gloomy damp day - felt like snow but temperature around 40°.  
Made sprays for garage and solar - to Young's for bird food - few groceries at S&S - lunch - nap.  Out to pick up sticks - Wes spread new wood chips on birdfeeder, path - gets very wet and slippery there - I put Ross netting on Birdsnest spruce and Mugho Pine at driveway entrance - put white Doves and Cardinals on Christmas tree.

1987 - Thursday - 30° at 7AM - Fair - Sun 4:14 - 4:29.  Beautiful, cold, windy day. Wrote letters and checks - called Krawchick's Lynn re loss vs gains on stocks - decided to transfer Prudential Bache Equity Fund to Govt Bond Fund - sent $2000 to build up to $10,000.
Took our walk - covered step garden with Ross netting - new rhododendrons at well area with burlap.
Wes gave TR his Christmas envelope - painted one side of new board for upper gate by bringing down heater from hayloft


December 18

1983 - Sunday 22° at 7AM.  Beautiful sunrise.  Different Sunday morning as not going to 8 o'clock Mass.  Sun 7:15-4:30 - same as yesterday.
Wes in shop, making tender bottom frame.
I wrapped Christmas presents - made lists of Wes' medical bills - will apply to Metropolitan for refund.  After early lunch to Caldors Brookfield - all sold out of Christmas trees size we wanted - to Gorky Park at North Street Theatre - a good thriller - home to build fire for dinner.

1984 - Tuesday - 37° at 6AM - Cloudy morning - cleared in afternoon - breezy - sunny.  To Mass.
House chores - ironing - mending blouse - wrapped presents - Wes in shop - he went to Marcus for milk.
After lunch and nap we worked on Northeast slope - clearing the area - cut up wood for kindling - cleared path to cliff - rolled over bundles of brush - explored "Deer Trail" - cleared path sides.  Wes brought in wood.  A good day.  I saw a Pileated in North Woods.

1985 - Wednesday - 27° at 7AM - Fair - cold, high wind - warnings to dress for the cold.
To Caldors to buy Room Humidifier - Crossword dictionary - to "Needles" to ask about knitting vest - want to make it shorter than originally planned - to Cuccioli where ordered a Sony Compact Disc Player - champagne from liquor store - home for a late lunch & nap.  Wes in shop - I made meat loaf and cookies.
Watched rerun of "King Lear" with Laurence Olivier.  
Texaco went up 1 7/8 to 28 when Judge gave Restraining Order against Pennzoil seizing assets.

1986 - Thursday - 36° at 6AM - Electricity off 2 Hrs 10 minutes in night - glad its on again.  Dark - gloomy cold, damp day.  To Mass.  Wes filled up holes in rail in shop lavatory - sanded and stained it.  I cleaned kitchen - sewed buttons on Wes' jackets, repotted new African Violets and Miniature Roses into green pots.  Couldn't complete the crossword.  Took snow tires from crawlspace - going to turn them in with car.  Took out papers from car and all our possessions.

1987 - Friday - 26° at 6AM - Beautiful new moon in southeast - clear cold day - cold wind.  To Mass.
We did the crossword.  I went to Ridgefield, bought blouse, skirt and belt at Helga's - a nice store - wool needles to make open vest for Jaeger pleated skirt.
Wes put chips on path to compost - put reflectors in gate - we took a walk to the Rotunda house - lunch - nap.  We raked leaves and sticks along roadside below entrance - quite a mess there - Wes raked leaves - the remaining ones - in north side of dell path to the south side of the path.

2. last page before this had the name Ciuccoli instead of Cuccioloi. There is a field named Ciuccoli Field in that area. Can't find any mention of a store by either name to see which is correct.
